It appears they resolved the issue.  They were using a food grade glue that was falling apart when wet.  I can not remember when I ordered mine but I am going to check it out today.  Will also give a review of this after testing it hopefully succcessively.  Here is a link to what I just discussed.

It looks like you could just send them back for a replacement even if you hadn't used them?

What I find weird is Ca doesn't allow them in the state?
Now how stupid is that? Seriously, heres a product that just might save your life in an emergency, but they outlaw it's sale because? ? ?

This is like those stupid gas cans they force us to buy with the faulty pouring spout that makes you spill more than it used to.

Well I spoke with customer service and they claim only about 5% of their filters were determined to be faulty.  I am now in the process of testing mine out.  I poured some stale red wine with the water at the top and took pics.  Once this is done I will take pics of the end results as well as a taste test.  Hopefully I can post this when completed.

Wow! With a 5% failure rate, I would think they would replace them without question.
Can you imagine if say, Bumble Bee tuna cans had a 5% failure rate, or Burger King?

That is why I am testing mine and it passed.  So I have red water at top and crystal clear water coming out.  Pretty amazing.

It looks as if they were able to resolve the design issue last summer since from what I have read they have not seen any failures in their recently sold filters.  According to the write up the failure would show itself by a steady flow of water rather then a drip.

Ok, just did a taste sample and it was great!  I tasted my water out of the faucet and could taste the chemicals whereas the filtered water tasted like good ole clean water.  No taste of any chemicals to include the wine we poured in it.

I read that if you plan on storing the filters after they've been used, to turn them upside down and they will dry in a day.
A good water filter for emergency use is a must have for anyone, you never know when your water supply may become contaminated.

After sitting overnight to finish filering I was able to look at the water and taste it.  The water tasted excellent, no taste of either the wine we poured into it or the chemicals from the faucet.  I did notice a very slight tint to the final product but no smell or taste that would have indicated the final product as being contaminated.  The water was in a stainless steel mug and had a very slight brown color.  It was almost unoticable.  We poured enough wine into the water as to make the unfiltered water appear ruby red.
