You could call it luck, but, (and I'm not Religious in the slightest) I accredit all of it to god.
I only listened to what he had to say and did as suggested, the rest literally fell into place, it wasn't work at all, but a fun ride.
Seriously,I just asked what's next and like a miracle, everything fell into my lap.
God knows I hate two things, Libs and Religion...

How many acres to you and ST have, Solar? The more the better is what I've learned. I'd be most happy living in the middle of a thousand acres and 100 miles from the nearest town.

I bought a little over 10, but the surveyor said it is equivalent to 80 since it is so steep and rugged.
I have two creeks and several Artesian springs that feed it, which is where we get our drinking water from, better than any bottled water.
If you do look for land, insist on mineral rights, all of them or walk away, also make sure it has a water source, that is the next grab by the powers that be.
Either a spring or a small creek, rivers will be watched by the EPA, so avoid river property.

But I'm with you, my next land purchase will be miles from the nearest neighbor on 100+ acres, bordered by land held in trust by logging companies.
Never buy land bordered by USFS or BLM, the Gov will be watching you like a hawk.

We've got 90 acres of which 85 are all hardwoods. There's also a good sized creek with a spring that runs into the it. Whitetail deer & turkey are plentiful. There's even an occassional beaver or two.

The one thing I could do without are the 'cultured' city snobs that come around here during the summertime. They ooze the attitude that anyone who lives in the country is a hillbilly. Assholes. Go on back to your 'civilization' and stay there.

I know exactly what you mean, we get the Bay Area Trash Sanfranfreaks Or more commonly referred to as (BATS).
I laugh at them because they are clueless twits that only manage to get themselves into trouble here in the wilderness.

So why aren't you living on it, or is it a family piece just to get away to?

We've been living there since '97. I just wish it was a less populated area like it used to be. It's geting worse with city people coming in here and fucking up the landscape--buying land, building homes and bringing their city mindset with them--'We need all the roads paved, lots of zoning laws and more 'industry' to come into the county!' It makes me puke!

I have to chuckle when one of the 'newcomers' gets into their car and goes tearing ass down one of the county roads after dark(thinking, no doubt, that they're still driving in the city) and slams into a deer. Dumbasses.

I concur completely!
When I bought my land in the 80s I could walk out my back door, jump on the quad and drive all the way to lake Tahoe without seeing a soul, or getting harassed by the USFS.
Now, I can't get a mile before I run across someone or get cited for driving on fed land, you know, our land...

My idiot neighbor moved here from the bay area and complained about the lack of sidewalks and starbucks.
I wanted to slap her, I said why did you move here, her response, I hate the city.
I wanted to slap her again, they hate it, yet want to turn it into the Hell hole they left.
Libs, especially city libs are a special stupid all their own!

If I put buckshot in a libs ass in the forest and he screams, but no one is around to hear it, does he really make a sound?

Hopefully the SHTF will not happen, but if it does, have you considered that you might have to take care of your neighbor lady?

Our relatives said that they'd come to our place if the SHTF. My response was-'If you're not willing to help us to be prepared, how'r you going to get over all those dead bodies on the 1/4 mile lane up to the house?' They weren't too happy when they found that I was serious.

My neighbors are pretty prepared as well, it's their neighbors that might find an unwelcoming ass full of 12 ga shot.
