Gonzaga just completed an undefeated season with a come from behind double digit win.  It enters the tourney as undisputed #1.  It also has 46 straight wins.

I have always been a John Wooden fan.  He created men.  He has the bar at 88 wins.

If you remember Phil Woolpert, Bill Russell and KC Jones of San Francisco, then you know he knocked them off the block.

Woolpert had around 60 wins.

Walt Hazzard, Gail Goodrich, Keith Erickson, Gail Goodrich, Lew Alcindor, Big Red, Sidney Wicks, Henry Bibby, Curtis Rowe, Kenny Booker, Lucius Allen, Keith Wilkes ..... learned under the wizard.

This is way before ESPN came on the screen. Remember only a few teams were televised back in John Wooden days, therefore, IMO the top tier players went to these schools for that reason and that reason only...the exposure. Noticed the John Wooden's of UCLA and Digger Phelps of Notre Dame fell off the planet once other schools received the same television exposure.

Same thing in NCAA football, once ESPN enter the stage with Tom Osborne and his Nebraska Cornhuskers exited stage right.

IMO...ESPN opened the other schools with the same exposure as the UCLAs of the world.

People go to college to realize the American Dream.  When an underprivileged goes to college, whether or not they graduate, shoes talent and then someone with money offers them millions to continue that trade outside of college ... that is success.
