Personally I have always preferred DC over AC, more and more products are hitting the mkt daily that use it.

But with that said, the Green commie movement probably did more damage to its growth than otherwise would have happened.
Subsidies are about to be cut, the industry is about to take a bullet to the head and we can put the nonsense to rest for a few decades.
Though the article seems to place a lot of growth in DC on the green movement, DC has for years been the preferred energy for long distance transmission.
Those towers that run through your state to mine carrying energy are HVDC and have been since their inception decades ago, the article leads one to believe 3rd world countries are the leading edge in the area, but we are still the leaders in the world where energy is concerned.
Its just that the libs are forcing us into 3rd world status with the AGW nonsense.

I wouldn't give the article much credence, he is trying to show the growth of DC as inevitable, when its been on a steady growth pattern all on its own and mostly all thanks to our auto industry and demand for cars with 12V accessories.
These gadgets get moved into the home but still require conversion of the AC back to DC, but the AC infrastructure is here to stay for the next foreseeable century.

There may be island communities that pop up that run on DC, but they will be like communes, or single dwellings like mine, where I used to have all DC apppliances, but they still don't make a 12v DC big screen, so I was forced to buy AC. :))

There will always be an argument between the two energy sources, but it should be the mkt that decides what we use, not the gov.

Thank, all the big equipment that I have been around or responsible for has been DC. So I did not think it was a big NEW move in the U.S.

It isn't, it was a lib trying to tout socialists green BS.
This author is trying to make it look as if DC is somehow making a come back, when in reality it is the green movement that will possibly cause a stagnation in its growth.

But bottom line, the green movement played no effect in it whatsoever as to its growth.

There are good and bad in both currents, the mkt place will decide which is best for its application.

I prefer DC for its static free signal as opposed to AC.
By twisting DC wires around themselves, you eliminate the magnetic field that AC creates and interferes with cell phones, TVs and radio.

If you ever run any DC wiring, always twist the wires, this also reduces resistance in the current flow, saving energy and using less power in the long run.
