Intrigued.  I guess he's (they're) building it off Chromium releases, revolutionizing the way we see and interact with ads on the web.

Good job Mozilla! I take back everything I said about liberals not being good for innovation.  In this case, their liberal brains thought it would be a good idea to get rid of Eich who invented the language the entire web uses, where he left and created this brilliant new venture that will make him truckloads of money and employ who knows how many others.

I bet anyone with any stake in Mozilla is just thrilled!

Gal said it was ironic Brave was a for-profit operation that can make money from reducing advertising.

"If Brave succeeds, it's going to drain money away from the crappy privacy-invasive obnoxious advertisement world we have today, and publishers and sites will start transacting in the new Brave world that is regulated by the user agent," he said. "Brave will take a cut of these transactions. And I think this is key. It aligns the incentives right."

"The current funding structure of major browsers encourages them to keep things as they are. Brave's incentive is to bring down the whole diseased temple and usher in a better web."

Unfortunately there will still be obnoxious ads, but just the ads he gets paid for. But it is a good idea, one whose time has come. I'll continue to use AdBlock on any browser.

I think they're off the page though and moved to the browser.  I can't quite think about how it will look though.

I'll have to give it a try, once they release the final version.

Is there ever a final version?

was just getting ready to post that line...
If a guy has LIMITED web access, or poor bandwidth (like me) it might be worth it.

Exactly! Even pop up blockers slow you up because they have to recheck as you load the page.

Right now, my cell phone tethering is faster than a 10meg internet via Centurystink... totally sucked, and bumped our phone bill from $51mo to $130mo for $19.99 advertized service.  They automatically added all the premium land-line services, a bundled package, and after a month or so, throttled us.

no thanks!  we dropped 'em.

When the browser comes out, I'll try it... much as I detest Google, I'll try it.

This isn't a Google product.

Funny, I thought it was based on the same code...?

They're using Chromium, which is open source and available to all.  Chrome is built on Chromium.   I didn't mean to say "Google Chromium" releases in the OP.

I thought I read somewhere that Firefox was actually a renamed Netscape Navigator.

If so and these are the same designers then they have decades of experience making browsers.

If you ask me targeted advertising should be illegal. Talk about an invasion of privacy. I would actually LOVE to see some lawsuits over targeted advertising.
