Title: Battery Operated Kitchen Faucet
Post by: Bronx on January 21, 2022, 08:55:15 AM
My wife wanted a "touch" kitchen faucet. I said no problem and she went out and picked the one she wanted. A Delta Leland pull-down kitchen faucet with On/Off touch activation.

Pretty cool right....hands get gunked up preparing food while cooking just touch any part of the faucet with your elbow and bingo you have water...soapy hands, touch the faucet, you have water. Amazing huh...Not NO but Hell NO.......!

This thing runs on six double AA batteries that have a life span of about a month. No batteries in the house...no water out of the faucet which in return makes wife's head spin and I get the blame for not doing the research on a faucet she picked out....

I don't know if I'm complaining about the battery operated faucet or my wife's head exploding at me for something she wanted and picked out.......

I said all of that to say this....does anyone know of a way to bypass the batteries so water can flow freely out of the faucet without batteries...? I know she'll lose the "touch" part of it and I really don't wanna buy another faucet...this one cost me $400 bucks six months ago. It works great... just tired of running out batteries at very bad times and spending all that money on them.

Thanks in advance.

Don't the batteries run out at less than opportune time.....

I never heard my wife curse in 30 years until we brought that faucet and it ran out of batteries when she had cookie dough all over her hands.....

Toy bought a 50K Lumen Duracell flashlight with batteries, freakin awesome, 8AA batteries dead within 3 hrs.
Can you say planned obsolesce?
Gee, I guess next time we'll buy Energizer Lithium batteries.  :sneaky:

Here's a GREAT video test of many of the major brands of AA batteries. This guy does a super nice job, though most of his videos have small engine repair as the subject.

I use Amazon Basic AA here at Tbone-land, mainly because I can get 'em in bulk and save a buttload of money. I am gratified to note that, though the Amazons scored reasonably well versus the Energizers and Ray-O-Vacs, they were hands-down the most economical in terms of both duration and output per penny.

There's something to be said for the old Delta-style single-handle faucet. When your hands are covered with cookie dough, a little nudge from your elbow, your chin, your nose, or even your knee or your foot will get the water running.

Yep, Lithium beats them all. I don't care about because most go to the trail cameras, which also have a large 12V running as well making them last 3 months.
All the other batteries lasted a week only, so paying a little extra for the headache of changing them out regularly is well worth it.

Shhhhh...don't say this to loud...my wife will blame me for not telling her something she has been doing for the last 50 years of her life, using a manual or single-handle faucet......

Just kidding...my wife is a sweetheart and when the batteries ran out of the faucet and the water stop flowing it was cookie dough madness with a little spontaneous fun......
