you understand the analogy is not between the virus and gun violence right???? Not sure how you missed that...re-read my post slowly, the focus in on interpreting data...The analogy is when evaluating data, one must drilled down past overall numbers and averages...

read or listen, and then talk, or write
Answer the question, is gun violence contagious? The problem with the virus is not just people get sick, its that it spreads quickly, you do see that, right?

you are pivoting...

my analogy, as I clearly explained, is not comparing guns and this virus as a danger,,,,the analogy is about interpreting data and my frustration that the solutions do not match the problem...

if you want to start a new thread and ask me if I think a gun will give you a disease, I will say no...does that help...

there is no comparison,  the solutions for these two problems will be far different requardless of data. You cannot find a solution based off what works for gun violence.

There is a great deal of generalized average data. One must drill down into the numbers.

Have you examined the death rates by age group. Business insider published this chart. 80 and over its high, 70 and over about half as high. 60 - 70 far less. By the time you get to 50-60 it's a tiny fraction.

The solutions do not match the problem.

It's a akin to saying America has a gun problem. No, America has some inner city cesspools with a gang problem. Of over 3000 us counties, most all violence happens it tiny zip codes in about 1 percent of the counties.

Defining the problem better helps with the solution

That has not happened.
Check your data again and look at the age group on Spring break.

There is a bleed over in those numbers, 19 to 30 but they aren't breaking it down that way. But the real issue isn't who is suffering from it, but the rate of transmission in what age groups groups.
These kids normally don't travel, as compared to working adults, which raises their exposure rate, as well as transmissible issues.

There will most likely be hotspots all over the country, most likely intercity shitholes run by Dims. Just look to Ca as proof. Which raises another quandary, rounding up homeless and cramming them together, much like cruise ship debacle.

I am not see that in the young people that can vote that I talk with.  But then this is farming country and not the big city.

"Farming country" and the "big city" - the former feeds America and the latter bleeds America!

Yeah, it's been awhile. I wasn't sure what to believe, I'd been following the story for awhile, and so many lies out of China from the beginning, I wasn't sure it was even real.

President Trump is in the midst of the greatest deal of his life.

And it's a terrible gamble.

He needs to calm people down enough so as to reopen businesses.

But he must also hope that very few people die, or that he can soothe the popular outrage when they do.

I predict far more in the USA will expire from the Seasonal Flu this year than from COVID-19. Yet people generally ignore the Seasonal Flu deaths.

As they will ignore COVID-19 deaths in every year in the future.

It is a delicate dance. One that the future of our very Republic depends on.

I "stole"  this from a friends Facebook page....  This person is a doctor at a hospital in Illinois.  The part apart Trixie is funny and informative.  Toy

So, a viral primer... Have a seat class.  Here is part one of our journey:
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses.  They are spheres of protein that surround the genetic material which is RNA (not DNA like our genetic code).  They are called coronaviruses because the proteins embedded in the envelope on the outside of the virus (called spikes) radiate out from the center like a crown or halo, and the Latin word for that is "corona".  Viruses do not divide like bacteria or fungus.  They have to hijack another organism in order to make more copies and grow / thrive.
There are dozens of different Coronaviruses, but most don't infect humans.  However, we have known about Coronaviruses since the 1960s.  Members of this viral family have caused illnesses like SARS (similar to our current misbehaving member) and MERS.  For many years, we have tested for 4 different human coronaviruses on our routine respiratory swab at the hospital.  These include Coronavirus 229E, OC43, NL63, and HKU1.  So, if we have known that these viruses have been around for a long time, and we know they infect humans, why is this one so significant?  Well, let's start by talking about terrible people who don't follow the rules and learn about how the virus infects.

Say that Trixie (A U of I spring breaker who is NOT listening to the social distancing recommendations) is in Florida and gets infected by her new bestie from Ohio State.  She returns to her part-time job at the local grocery store.  A number of COVID viruses are living in a microscopic droplet in her nose.  She looks left and right...
(Go ahead Trixie.  No one is looking)
...then picks her nose.  She wipes the evidence on her apron, and goes about her day.
Moments later, you come around the corner, super thrilled because there was ONE package of toilet paper left.  You are WINNING the day!  No more magazine and newspaper pages for you tonight, but you aren't sharing with the rest of the family, and we aren't judging you for that.
Sorry, I digress...
You pay with cash, and Trixie smiles and hands you your change, telling you to have a nice day.  You've always loved that Trixie... so cheery!  What you don't know is that the three George Washingtons you just folded neatly and put in your pocket came with a special surprise:  those viruses hitched a ride, and you aren't even aware that as you rub your eyes (because your allergies have been giving you fits), you have now inoculated yourself with enough COVID to cause infection.
The little boogers (pun intended) attach to some cells near where you rubbed, and invade, spilling their contents into the cells they invaded.  They then spit their RNA into their new host cell, and they get to work.  They hijack your own cell's machines to make many copies of their own RNA, then copies of their own proteins, then assemble all the parts together into new viruses.  They make so many copies, that the cell can no longer hold the volume of viruses, and the cell bursts, allowing the new viruses to invade the neighboring host cells, and a new infection is born.
So, why don't our bodies stop this?
HOW do they stop it?
Why don't antibiotics work?
How is this different than the other coronaviruses? other kinds of viruses?
Stay tuned!  I'll go over this and more!  Tomorrow's update will continue to help you unravel just what this thing is and what it all means
Until then, my friends stay safe and...
DON'T BE A TRIXIE!  YOU DON'T NEED A NEW BESTIE FROM OHIO STATE!  OH, AND CONTINUE TO PRACTICE GOOD SOCIAL DISTANCING YOU ANIMALS!!!
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.
