I just looked it up. I think the new rule is over a 75 minute drive and Mather is 2 friggin hours away though the Sacaramento cesspool from my home because I just did it for nothing as it turns out. The assh9le sent me down there for an aortic sonogram. It took 10 maybe 15 minutes at the outside. I get all the way to hell and gone back home another two hour drive and a half a tank of gas later for the trip and my ass had barely hit the recliner when the phone rings they're calling to tell me it was no frigging good, it couldn't be read and I need to have a cat scan instead. I think I'll force the issue to have a local cat scan.

If it's not too far, I prefer Reno over Mather or McClellan.
Anyway, you do get reimbursed for mileage. Definitely push for private practice. You are definitely eligible.

McClellan is a clinic under the Mather VA hospital. They can do XRays but not cat scans. Reno is way to hell and gone over the rock pile and even further away. It's over 85 miles or somesuch.
Oddly enough until recently they had the Auburn clinic operating under the Reno VA by some odd logic only the VA can devise but recently they reassigned it to Mather hospital which makes way more sense for any number of reasons. The morons would ask me go to Reno in the middle of winter for this or that but I'd always opt for Mather instead. It's as if the idiots didn't know about the most infamous moutain pass in American history. DUH!
For some odd reason the VA insists on putting all of their hospitals in the middle of big suburban cesspools.

There's no doubt you are eligible for outsourced medical. Just throw a fit, they will accommodate you, I can almost guarantee it, you just need to hit the right person, because most are fuckin lazy!!!

Its a total sun tzu move for optics sake, just like his support of the vaccine.
