It would outlaw private health insurance. Does the government have the right to make a sector of the economy illegal?

Possibly. The insurance industry helped write the law and they supported it because the mandate forced people to buy insurance which on paper guaranteed tens of millions of new customers for the insurance companies. Plus the law included subsidies to offset any losses the insurance companies incurred.

The democrats would handle the medical debt the same way they handle the college debt and promise every four years to pay it off.
