Why did the GOP not give a rebuttal speech to Obamas Sept jobs speech?

Boo and I have been discussing the lack of jobs bills put forward by the GOP controlled house since they took power on the
JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, platform.

IN Sept the President gave a speech before congress outlining a plan for keeping the economy moving.

He pretty much called the GOP out on the matter, pointing out that the GOP had done very little.

Here's the big question.

WHY was there no GOP response?  They respond to every speech the President makes!

Why not this one??

The only logical reason is that they had NO job bills to actually tell the American public that would not make then look bad.

They do have a number of bills that are all deregulation of some kind, but telling the public THAT on national TV would have been a suicide move, so they just kept quiet

They have a bill that will eliminate clean air and water restrictions on offshore drilling on the continental shelf, cause that will add at least a hundred new jobs and make the oil company a lot more profit.

SO tell me why did they not rebuttal his speech??

You haven't explained why there should be a rebuttal speech since those only happen on specific occasion like the SOTU....

You see, this is why you always look foolish. You get your ideas from left wing sites and when pressed you can't defend them.

Why start another thread when you haven't answered the questions in the other one yet?

I'd combine the threads if I was a mod.

More to the point, what happened to the jobs bill he proposed and had to be passed ASAP?

The GOP give a rebuttal speech every saturday right after the pres gives his little pep talk. (or used to)

There would be a rebuttal speech, because the parties usually get time for their point of view after the president gets to monopolize our time, with "AND now the President!"

I am sure IF the GOP had wanted to say a few words they could have.

OR the next day they could have had a press conference and said,

Hey look, we have THESE bills for jobs.

BUT they didn't, did they. Strangely quiet

WHY?  GOP are not shy about speaking their minds.

No the GOP does not give a rebuttal speech every Saturday. They deliver a message that has nothing to do with whatever the Democrats are saying. And vice versa.

The GOP killed it! what, you been asleep for awhile?

and the saturday address thing.
seems it still happens

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2011/09/gop-radio-address-reduce-government-regulations/1

so a rebuttal after the pres would not be so out of the ordinary.
Not that the GOP are big on rules of decorum during presidential speeches.

How can the GOP kill it when the Democrats control the Senate? More to the point, was it ever brought up for a vote?

I don't know why they didn't give a speech.  However, it could possibly be that it's because they have passed jobs bills and other bills in the Rep run House, but those bills are being held up in the Senate.  Why is that?  Is it so that the dems can lie about the Reps being a do nothing group?

Not reading through, so I apologize if this has already been stated, but it wasn't the Right that killed this nonsense bill, it was the dims.
QuotePresident Obama's $447 billion jobs bill failed to clear a procedural hurdle in the Democratic-controlled Senate Tuesday night despite a White House push that accelerated in the 11th hour.

The bill received 50 votes falling short of the necessary 60 to end debate. Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Jon Tester of Montana were the only Democrats to vote against the bill. Both of them are facing tough re-election campaigns next year.

Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., had said earlier that although he intended to vote in favor of ending the Republican filibuster, he did not intend to support the bill if it reached a final vote.

Now with that aside, you know why there is no Pub jobs bill?
Because the whole concept is fuckin ludicrous!
A Pub jobs bill would take on the appearance of stripping gov regulation, Gov is in itself by its very nature, a jobs killer!

Allow me to reiterate my point, Gov does not create jobs, Period!
Case in point, the Green move was a complete and unadulterated failure!
So to think the GOP would actually create a jobs bill is ludicrous, if anything, they would remove Gov from the equation.

So as to your point "where is the Pubs jobs bill"?
We are working on removing all the road blocks the Dims have placed on the business community.

You must be illiterate or something to not know about the filibuster and 60 votes.

Can someone explain things to Boo please, I have so many other posts to get to.

I mean seriously, if we are going to have a decent debate here we need to keep things FACTUAL and assume I did not just fall off the turnip truck!

http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/17/politics/obama-jobs-tour/index.html

QuoteSince Obama's plan was rejected in the Senate -- due to unanimous GOP opposition -- Democratic leaders have decided to try to move it through Congress by breaking it up into a series of smaller legislative proposals.

Oh and Boo, still waiting for you to prove there are 25 jobs bills stalled in the senate.

cause your flapping gums are NOT going to cut it. According to Taxed and Solar, we PROVE our statements in this forum IF ASKED, AND I am asking (about half a dozen times now)
I think Taxed called it "vomiting" propaganda!  We don't do that here!

ESPECIALLY if you don't even know about filibuster, then every word you write could be just as merit less!

They bitch when the Republicans rebut Obama ("Racists!"), and they bitch when the Republicans don't rebut Obama ("Do-nothings!").

Silly little bitches.
