My guess would be any army except the US Army if at all....possibly the French. After all he takes his name after the Civil war soldiers who modeled their uniforms after the French  "Zouaves" who fought in the middle east., baggy trousers, red vests and Fez's for caps. The New York fire zouaves were rather famous for their hijinks and off duty antics earning them a reputation as being a bit crazy. Zouaves were also period soldiers nickame for lice and bedbugs that both sides had to deal with. So we get the term "Crazy as a bed bug" by combining those two factors....I suppose that applies here.....or maybe he wears a fez and baggy pants?

Currently the U.S. has about $11 billion in gold. https://fiscal.treasury.gov/reports-statements/gold-report/current.html  I would think that by itself would make it almost impossible to go back to the gold standard.

Why do you include Lincoln?  The Federal Reserve did not come into being in this country yntil 1913 or 1914.  That was almost 50 years after Lincoln was killed.
