White House Supports Israel

This surprises me.  I wonder if Obama knows this is "their" position?  I guess even this government can be right occasionally!

The White House on Thursday threw its full support behind Israel's military response to a barrage of rockets fired by the Islamist Palestinian movement Hamas that rules the Gaza Strip. Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes said it would be "up to the Israeli government" whether to follow up punishing airstrikes with a ground assault.

I have no idea why this would surprise you.

Meanwhile, the Israeli populace remained jittery. According to a 2010 poll commissioned by The Jerusalem Post, only 9 percent of Jewish Israelis believe that the Obama administration is more pro-Israel than pro-Palestinian.

This is cheap lip service, which is why they used a relatively low level person to do the talking, as opposed to Clinton or Obama.

My guess would be, that behind the scenes, Obama is siding with the Muslim Brotherhood.

That would be my impression too. If Obama has taught this country nothing else, he has taught us that talk is cheap!

Not to mention, that the only real position statement that Obama has issued on Israel, is that they should return to pre 1967 borders. That alone is pretty indicative of where Obama stands.

Notice that they never say, "We stand behind Israel". It's always, "We believe that Israel has the right to defend themselves".

It sounds good, but it's also the Obama administration telling Israel that we won't be there to help them if things get ugly.

I think Israel knows they're alone for at least the next 4 years.  I only hope we don't supply her neighbors with arms in the war coming soon (like days?).

It may be too late for that. It sure looks to me like the Obama administration gave the thumbs up to weapons deals with Mobarak, (which was a US ally), and then quickly encouraged the Arab Spring, and the radical Muslim Brotherhood to overthrow him.............which was successful. It's a dangerous place over there. More so because of Obama.

The things that this administation is able to pull off under everyone's noses, without being questioned, is absolutely incredible. :scared:

Correction:  Talk is not cheap (and it has consequences).  Now if, on the other hand, you had said that his talk is cheap ...

Yawn, they've already planned how they will lie themselves out of any wrongdoing if they get caught.  Isn't that the way they've gotten a pass on all of their other stuff?

We should leave that whole region alone, empty all of our bases, all of our embassies, stop all foreign aid, etc. I'm tired of the interventionist foreign policy and the dogmatic support for Israel by members of both parties. Israel isn't going anywhere folks, don't let the rhetoric and scare tactics fool you. These are the facts: Israel has 200 undeclared nuclear bombs buried underground, if Israel gets taken out or even gets in danger of being taken out, they will literally burst all of their enemies into flames. Go look up the Sampson Option, it's Israel's "alleged" response to an imminent military threat to its existence. So, I'm not worried about Israel as a nation, if they go, the entire Middle East is likely to go with them. The Israelis will do what is necessary for them to protect themselves, we don't need to do it for them. I do find Obama's constant coddling of these Arab spring movements tiresome and stupid, not that the Palestinians are one of them, I sympathize with them, the actual victims, not the ones who just want to cause havoc for havoc's sake like the ones indiscriminately firing random rockets into Israel.

We just need to leave this region alone, it is a hornets nest, and we have far bigger problems.

Reading from the Jerusalem Post this morning early that bombing into Israel by Hamas will be countered more violently as the bombs keep coming.  Still no comment from WH on support other than lip service amounting little more than agreeing that Israel has a right to defend themselves.  But, what did I expect?
