Ah, me Bucko, on some forums, longevity is definitely a sign of dementia.

I've been on so many forums, I have definitely lost count, a conservative guess would be somewhere north of a hundred. Some I've abandoned outright, some I have quit. I have been banned from a few, others I have banned myself. Of the handful from which I was banned, I really only felt badly getting the axe from Admin's Alter Ego Forum. ( or one of them, he tried another experiment and it went over like a pregnant pole vaulter ) That one really hurt, but power corrupts and absolute power very well does corrupt. For the absolute longest, I did not go black, even though one of our erstwhile fellow members was banned at the same time and did go black immediately. ( if not sooner ) I could not sign in, and no one knew if I had been banned at all, except I, the Big Dog, and Admin. For the longest, I couldn't even view the forum, but that eased eventually. Two things were evident and would definitely get you banned; don't knock Bush, and do not be a libertarian. Oh, the third, do not have the name Bob Larkin or defend him.


As with most of us ( except Solar, of course ) the latch is still open at LNF. It has fallen on hard times, but will recover, in my estimation. It's not the first good forum I've seen founder.
After a couple of system crashes, I went back under an assumed name, but eventually left when the sugar coalesced on me.

That one hurt.

Maybe if I sent our newest members over there, he would see that we are not stealing people, but merely sharing them.
Hell, it's not as if we lock the door once someone enters and never let them post anywhere else.

It's beyond me how a so called Conservative can't grasp the concept of competition.
The last thing you would ever do is go on a witch hunt asking your customers to "Turncoat" on those they socialize with.

So for those that have never been there, and there are quite a few of you, check it out, the forum is a good one, the people are all great, but you may take issue with the rules, they are quite numerous.

Competition's a funny thing. Some come to message forums to do just that, electronically joust over this game or that, this belief system or that, this religion or that. We seek like-minded, fair-minded good companions --- or we come to troll, to wound, to inflict damage in all directions, unmindful of repercussions.

You, Shooter, A-mom, arpad, and of course The Usual Suspects here with "admin" after their names, are all among that category. The like- and fair-minded good companions. I've laughed and jousted with both you and my good friend Walks, and despite any political differences I will call you my good friend as well.

Yes, you're playing Voice of Reason to my ranting unreasonable brat. Okey-dokey. But when someone sends out a blanket request for informants, that is DESPERATION, and even us brats can see it for what it is.

Can you even begin to imagine the reaction I would get if I started pitting member against member, or threatening the idea that anyone sharing private messages entailing information about another forum should face my wrath, what the final outcome would be?

Over the years at LNF, I saw many hugely-talented people pass through. Nytebird, one example. Way earlier than Rob Larrikin, Nyte supplied cheerful little visuals that just helped lighten a day's load.

My wife and I have actually met about a dozen LNF members and consider all of them good upstanding people. I hear second-hand Nyte is just as nice in person as I found the source who told that to me. Another lady now long gone from The House at LNF. Good people come abnd good people go, and it isn't always just one thing which prompts them to do it.

I don't know why Nyte moved on, or ProudVet (who had recommended LNF to me), and to about 30 others from the old ATT board who got links to LNF --- and actually stayed, at least for awhile.

I can't even recall if I signed in at forums started up by other LNF members --- except of course my short-lived stint at JFA's place.  ;D ;D ;D  That one ended splendidly.... How dare I say Catholics are Christian! How dare I!   :))

Well, I'm Protestant, raised on movies with Christian themes produced by Hollywood Jews, including the idea that in America you are free to declare any personal belief that God empowers you to verbalize.

(A rare religious side-trip for me here, into Political Land....)  Me, I see the original Christian Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Churches as equal viable conduits for essentially similar doctrine. I also see America as a place for any storefront preacher to become the next university founder with thousands of people all serving their particular shared belief.

You get a lot farther with belief than without it. I think it was the Catholic Rev. Fr. G.K. Chesterton who wrote that.

JFA just didn't get it. Last I heard, it's the same dude nailed to that cross thingie. Strip away the various sects' hooplah and the bureaucracy, it's still the same Jesus and still the same Christianity which now enfolds fully one-third of this planet. At JFA's place, he was willing to cut out a major chunk of people. Me in particular when I bristled at that remark by him.

So no, I didn't last long at JFA's place. I recall I wasn't banned at LNF for joining there.
