Letting a RINO like Tom Price slip through is one thing, but letting a RINO slip through of the ilk of Mitch McConnell is whole different story.

Oh good lord.  Tom Price's life dream is to rip the ACA scam apart and replace it with a free market system.  He was my rep for a long time and that's something I am certain on.

The labor/trans Sec is a BS job.  We could cut it tomorrow and nobody would notice.  It gives him some leverage over McConnell, because by God, he's going to need it.

Put the little hammer down... it's not time to break the glass just yet.

Let's calm down.  He's not going to pick a conservative for every head spot.  I'll take Flynn, Sessions, Price, and whoever else I'm forgetting all day long and let a RINO slip through here and there.

I agree. No harm - no foul. Secretary of Transportation is not a critical appointment. It also checks off a couple of more blocks from a diversity stand point.

Interesting ... leverage over McConnell... I hadn't thought of that!  Thanks for the insight.

So far I have to acknowledge that I feel pretty good about Trump's appointments. I am really looking forward to SOS, SOD and head of the VA. Those will truly define Trump. What I find interesting is the democrats are being awfully quiet which is out of character for them. One wonders what they are up to.

If you were counting on a complete conservative cabinet, then you're just fooling yourself.  He's been putting together a strong cabinet so far, and if anything, this gives him some leverage over McConnell.

Trump in his Thank You tour in Ohio just announced the appointment of General James Mattis secretary of defense.

"He's the closest we have to Patton," Trump said.

Ralph Peters' assessment of General Mattis:

Jim Mattis has another great qualification to be SecDef: He wasn't looking for a job. He was happy in retirement, studying, helping his fellow Marines, and contributing thoughtfully to our national security behind the scenes.

The last time I heard from him—a bit before the election—he mentioned, not for the first time, that he was glad to be west of the Rockies. A Washington, D.C. post was not part of the plan; rather, he thought of farming in rural Washington State.

The meeting I have heard nothing about was today. The media has been wrong on so many things for so long I don't trust the so called short list for SOS. John Bolton was to meet for a second time with Trump today. Could he be the one?
Bolton is a real hard ass tough negotiator that someone like Trump would appreciate. He is just the Hard ass Trump would need to force countries to take back the criminal illegals they won't want. Bolton was the one GW sent to the UN to slash funding when the UN kept passing anti American resolutions. He was very effective in that job!
Could it be Bolton?

Trump checks another block by appointing Dr. Carson as Housing secretary. He will do no harm in another department that should be eliminated.

Like other departments, what the hell does Dr. Carson know about the Department of Housing.   I guess he could use a scalpel and cut the place down to size.

I'd like to see the UN delegations pay all traffic and other fines they ring up under diplomatic immunity. Then cut U.S. funding to 10% of their total budget. Get with OUR program or your pampered worthless selves are gone....

How about just IOU's, and see how long the UN will be around.

Having grown up in an inner city he may have some idea about what does not need to be done. That being said, the goal should be to reduce the departments size and scope.

This is a horrendous pick. I saw someone who said that the Carson pick was a great option for diversity. Using the word Diversity is what liberals do. Its not about needing to have diversity. Its about needing to have experience, and Carson has ZERO experience for a position like HUD. The position for HHS would have been great; its right down Carson's alley. But Carson shouldnt have anything to do with a position where he has no experience. This is just Trump rewarding a loyalist with a position.
