I tend to agree with the study. I think it is normal for kids to have degrees of self respect issues. This why parenting is so important so as to be close enough with their kids to identify these issues and address them ASAP. Most kids grow out of it, but others need professional assistance.

In 1967 the school stuck me on Ritalin, went from high energy and happy, to straight "A"s and zombie like, and the real me was being suppressed, the kid who was built to be a warrior, the kid who knew every second of what was happening at 360 degrees within his environment. The kid who could out perform everyone else on every level physically and mentally, these fucks didn't want us in their world view, we were the ones who laughed at the pawns and didn't accept their global BS views. That was obvious all throughout specialized training, they were picking out the quiet guys and advancing them towards OCS, they weren't looking for high achievers, they wanted compliant.
I saw it, but I had no idea what it meant, I just knew actual warriors were no longer wanted or needed. this was at the end of Nixon's term, the man the left despised as they ushered in the incompetent Carter era.

That was me when I entered the service, I had a solid understanding of Right and Wrong, and the military is packed full of corruption across the board!
Morale was low, Nam was wrapping up and we had a shitload of draftees in the ranks who hated being in.

Anyone with half a brain wanted out, especially after Carter took over and cut our heat rations down to 4 hrs per night with temps averaging 20 below at night.
