A Fort Collins principal stands by his decision to allow students from a multicultural group to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic on the school's intercom.

The response has been mostly positive, said Lopez, though the calls and emails from upset parents have been very negative.

And I'm sure they'll have someone that speaks Farsi to confirm it wasn't a call to Allah?

Looking at it from a different perspective, assuming all speak English, why recite a pledge to this country in the language of any other country?   Isn't that what Foreign Language classes are for?

More so, why not Russian, Chinese, Italian etc, but with so many varying dialects in the M/E, why Arabic, not even all Arabs speak the same dialect.

PC in any language is still PC.

I finally got the page to load and see they have done it in other languages, but it begs the question, why?
We are Americans first, to assimilate one needs to learn the language, to do otherwise is an insult to those that did.

Do much for the basics of education in this country.

Another brilliant move by a government school system. We wonder why these systems turn out idiots?

A group of kids gets together, wants to go through the exercise of translating and learning the pledge of allegiance in multiple languages, and asks the principal to let them do that?

That's both patriotic and good education.

That is pure BS. The Pledge of Alegiance should always be done in English.

I wouldn't have a problem with this group reciting it in any language they like, but for the principal to force the rest of the students to listen crosses the line.
