I wonder how this has changed over the last 5 decades?

An overwhelming majority of Americans would prefer to live anywhere but a big city, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

A total of 73% of poll respondents said they would prefer to live in either a suburban area or a rural setting, rather than a large city or urban area. Only one out of every five Americans – 21% – said they would like to live in a city. Just 5% said they were "not sure" which they would prefer.

I live in the burbs and they're turning to shit just like all of our cities due to demographics. I'm starting to think about the Antarctic. :sneaky:

That's what i'm looking to do too. I hate cities, they have nothing that I want.

ZUCKERBERG

I grew up in the burbs of Detroit, and it was like Happy Days.  Moved to an area that was too big >100,000 in Florida, moved to rural Oklahoma and then to OKC then back to rural Oklahoma, now in rural Florida.  I never ever want to be anywhere around a big city again.

Sick Of Silence

The more lefties and big city culture comes to an area, the more headache it becomes. There is a difference between having a shopping center close enough to walk to, and having one you are unable to drive and park at easily.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

Having moved from the San Fransicko Bay Area 15 years ago to a very rural city, county seat has a population of less than 3,000, it was great at first.  Still is good, BUT, the west coast governs what happens in the state.  Washington state west coast is now a shithole.  Seattle is just a mess.  But they make the laws and regulations that affect the entire state.  Thankfully our sheriffs don't play their stupid games, but that could someday change.

Not that many years ago you could build a house without a permit, they just want you to stay 25 feet from your property line.  Now they want your septic tank inspected before you can sell your house.  We used to have burn barrels, now the state say what we can burn.  No one pays any attention to that crap but you get the picture.  The big cities control the country areas with their stupid "we know better than you" rules.

So what happened was back in the day when Microsoft set up shop outside Seattle many Calif hippies moved up and brought their politics with them.

Northeast, in the corner next to Idaho just below Canada.  Spokane is south, which is the biggest city near us, and it has become a shithole.  It's only redeeming quality is the bums throw the green bikes and scooters into the river.  Then the city pays a guy to go and collect them, put them back on the streets and the bums throw them back into the river.
