I don't know if anyone else here followed this trial, but I did. Having worked South Carolina I am quite familiar with Colleton and Hampton counties. They are rural and adjacent to each other. Murdaugh's law firm is in Hampton, SC and his farm is located in Colleton County and that is why the trial was in Walterboro.

The Murdaugh firm is well known throughout SC and has quite a reputation. I am sure many in those two counties have been touched by this firm through the years. It is interesting that there is not a Walmart store in Hampton County. County leaders have been told by Walmart they are not there because of the Murdaugh law firm. The bottom line  - I am not surprised at the quick verdict.

Why was this even news worthy?
Because FUX ran with it for distraction purpose's.

It was newsworthy to the people in the two counties where Murdaugh did all of his dirty deeds, and there were many. However, I agree with you as to how "newsorthy" this was overall; it was certainly distraction filler at least.

I had never even heard about it until suddenly it it was as if the queen had died again.
You're right, the county where it occurred was probably major news, but it covered worldwide, even the UK was talking about a local trial?

I'd like to know what news they buried.

Yes, it was huge story locally and also statewide. Harpotlon, one of the defense lawyers, it is radical leftist political figure in SC. The law firm has harmed many in my opinion. If one listens to the judge it is clear this is probably not the first time they have been in a courtroom together. As was stated during the trial, "What tangled webs we sometime weave".

I was somewhat following it and was going to post about it in the true crime board.  An independent YouTube journalist named Eric Alan basically brought this to the forefront and tied in the murder of that kid, with the boat crash, and the Murdaugh's criminality.

It's another example of someone who thought he was untouchable and protected.

Murdaugh would have had a better chance of acquittal in Hampton County.
