This idiot actually wants the government to run his life.

He might be a refugee from the old Soviet Union and cannot function without the government making all the decisions for him.

In Detroit today, response to a 911 call takes an average of 58 minutes. In most other cities, the response time is probably shorter, but it's always measured in minutes.

The average encounter with a housebreaker, armed or not, comes to a head in seconds.

Are you saying you're willing to forgo the best defense you can get against an armed intruder in order to save your neighbors who are 400-500 yards away from the infinitesimal chance of catching a stray bullet? (This distance is, of course, far beyond the effective range of most handguns, and many rifles. Anti-gun dopes tend to think that bullets are immune to the laws of gravity and friction, and just travel on a string-straight line at the same speed forever.) More importantly, are you willing to dictate that same condition to your neighbors? Are you willing to say to them that they may not possess the best possible defense against an intruder?

How the hell did you get from New YORKERS who live in close proximity and MY suburban rednecks with guns to WE WANT TO TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY??  No one said that.  NO ONE ever says that!  (WE should but we DON'T).  But I will take your weapon of WAR away in a NY nanosecond.  And WE SHOULD.   As for MY neighborhood.  If it is a shotgun I don't worry about the stray bullet--when I hear 'high powered' weapons, I call 911.  (And apparently MY NEIGHBORS do as well and you couldn't scare up a DEMOCRAT within 10 houses).

Presuming you are around in a decade, you will see how far out in front BLOOMBERG was.  Bloomberg missed the boat unfortunately out of necessity--political and otherwise.  He should be BANNING most things with high percentages of sugars, high fructose corn syrup, sugar cane 'juice' and a whole lot more sugar disguised under some 40 names.  Diabetes type 2 increase in kids (not to mention the adults)??  That alone should stop every damn one of us in our tracks--including the grownups on this board to take notice.  Who knew youwould have to have an organic chemistry degree to read fucking food label?   It shouldn't be necessary!

I don't have a degree in organic chemistry, but I don't have a problem avoiding sugar. Why? Mainly because I can read.

First off, if the words 'sugar' or 'sweetener' occur in the description, it's probably a sugar. Duh.

Second, if the letter combination 'sacch' is in there, it's probably a sugar, or a sweetener of some sort. (The word 'saccharine' is a descriptive term, as well as a trademark. It means 'sweet.')

Third, if it ends with '-ose,' you can bet it's a sugar. Examples include fructose, lactose, and dextrose, among others.

Government can manage our diet just about as well as it can manage our train travel and, increasingly obviously, our health care insurance.

I based my post on the layout you described. If you want to keep changing that layout, thereby changing the premises of your posts, I promise you that you will be shunned here.

And to make the thing more beautiful, 60 something odd sheriffs of the counties with the ordinance have stated they won't actively enforce it.

It is hard to tell what the libs want.  In one place he says they should be banned and in the other place he says they shouldn't.

Start spreading the news we're leaving today......

The Gun Confiscation Notice an NYC Resident Reportedly Received Will Likely Send Chills Down Your Spine

New York City has reportedly started sending out confiscation notices ordering gun owners to "immediately surrender" rifles and/or shotguns capable of holding more than five rounds of ammunition. It is illegal to possess a rifle or shotgun with the capacity to hold more than five rounds in the city, according to NYC Administrative Code 10-306 (b).

An alleged notice sent to an NYC resident, dated Nov. 18, offers the gun owner the following options:

EVEN FOX NEWS CITED THE BLAZE as the source!  (Of course FOX news couldn't put together a real news story with an informant, google and a reporter with at least a 3 DIGIT IQ).

I'll gladly look at REAL NEWS SOURCES if this is indeed true!!!

Are you serious?
Why do you think FOX is Number 1 in the ratings, even CNN, CNBC and MSNBC combined can't touch FOX.
Ya know why? Because the leftist media doesn't tell the news that flies in the face of their agenda.

That's why you haven't heard it anywhere else!

I'm 62 years old and not once have I, or my family, or ANYONE I KNOW, even in the 'olden' days had to defend themselves with immediacy with a gun.  Now we shot a couple of raccoons attacking the trashcans back when we lived in the BOONDOCKS but that's the only time I can remember shooting at something other than a target.  So YOU DO THE MATH.  How often does one need to defend onself? Then 'ADD' to that equation--availability of the gun and the ammo, the skill, and sobriety (or just being AWAKE) to see how often MOST people have both the NEED and EFFECTIVENESS to actually pull it off!!

Well, hell, my house, my family's houses, or anyone I know's house has ever caught fire but I still keep a fire extinguisher around.  In a matter of seconds the cops are only minutes away.

Man, you're all over the emotional map with thios lib nonsense.
Did you not post this bull shit in hopes of making some weird political score of points over the need for stricter gun laws?
http://conservativepoliticalforum.com/political-discussion-and-debate/another-day-another-semi-mass-shooting/

Now to use your bassackwards argument, would these people stood a better chance at survival had someone with the training been armed?

Yeah dumb ass, lets do away with all guns and then guess what these morons will use? Home made bombs, and there is no defense against that kind of assault.

It is fully your choice not to own a gun. Why not put a "gun free zone" sign on your yard if it will make you feel better.
