Next, it will be some bulldyke nicknamed 'Butch' that will give new meaning to the term Prom 'King'.  :)) ;D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the study body elect a prom king and queen? That seems to be insinuated in the article.

Yes, and it show how vulgar and demented "democracy," particularly when one lets minors participate in it, has become.  "Democracy" is bad enough when majors who have the brains of minors practice it.

Objectively it can be said that gender conventions are breaking down.

The value we place on that is a matter of opinion.

It is pragmatic to say that a male/female coupling is required for the necessary act of procreation. To say that any deviation from that pattern at any time and any mixing of roles even outside of sexual acts is unnatural is a subjective judgement.

Obviously gender identity is tied to sex, but I don't think Prom Queen is a position involving mandatory acts. They we're voting on who sleeps with the Prom King, they very voting on the prettiest most popular girl at the boy... and they voted for a boy.

The fact that some homosexuals express themselves graphically and publicly doesn't make everything about gender identity and sexual preference about graphic public displays.

My guess would be this "lady boy" was elected prom queen much in the same "thought" process that the Kenyan menace was elected president....somebody thought it would be soooo cool.... ::)

You present a false dichotomy.  The true dichotomy is sex versus asexual.  Certain creatures reproduce asexually; others reproduce sexually, i.e. a male and a female.  Sex as "gender" is a meaningless abstraction.  As a meaningless abstraction, it is, as you suggested in a post supra, subjective.  Its subjectivity is comensurate with its meaninglessness.  Without a male or female, there is no sex.  At the level of DNA where we are defined there are no gays or lesbians, no transgendered, etc.  One is either a male or female, regardless of an phenomological quirkiness.  There are three-legged chickens and two-headed snakes; but they are freaks; and nature disposes of them quite rapidly.

The phenomenology of hermaphroditic sexuality aside, I agree with you on a level. It is perhaps worth considering that we are operating with an exogenous technology in addition DNA. Just because DNA doesn't turn a male into a female doesn't mean that it doesn't happen in the natural world: We are making it happen.

All of this is somewhat removed form the OP. I agree that my words were poorly chosen, and while my intent was certainly not to use a logical fallacy as deceptive rhetoric, a false dichotomy is indeed what I presented.

I should have been more specific and simply asked more specifically what was intended by the use of the word "sex."

It is being said that this issue is "all about sex." I repeat that I don't believe the title of Prom Queen conveys mandatory sexual acts.

Precisely.  Election for shock value alone.  It probably won't happen again now that it's no longer "new and exciting"...

Yes it will!!  I don't remember where or when it was.  But this same BS thing happy once before, so this is not the first time or will it be the last time.
