A Democratic Senator has introduced legislation that would abolish the Electoral College in the latest effort by the party to change or get rid of longstanding norms.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) announced on March 29 that a package of election reform bills he was introducing included one that proposes a constitutional amendment to switch presidential voting to a popular vote instead of through the Electoral College, a system of vote allocation designed to combat majority rule.

"It's time to end the undemocratic Electoral College, and to ensure a pathway to full voting representation for all American citizens, regardless of whether they live in Portland or Puerto Rico," Merkley said in a statement.

Typical nonsense of the left.  Attempt to obfuscate the actual truth to make it sound like  electoral college is unfair and even undemocratic. As you state it was meant to be undemocratic.

Based on last election the democratic numbers, even in states that went Trump, like Florida, Texas, Ohio, Penn and Mich and add in Calif, Oregon, Wash,  Ill, and entire NE, even though they are small states would have won the popular vote for Clinton. Everyone in flyover be damned.

Actually, if non citizens continue to counted on the census for purpose of representation, then some states can get larger electoral votes because of the pseudo swelling of the population, such as in California, Texas, Florida, Arizona. If 20% of your population is illegal as it seems plausible in CA, then of their 39 electoral votes, only 30 are legitimate.

Exactly Dave! That's why Trump is pushing to change the way the census is conducted and the numbers disseminated. We had a redistricting lawsuit here in Ca several years ago, and of course,, it was under a leftist judge who appointed a leftist council to redraw the districts, and of course you guessed the outcome.
Under Trump, things will be different because the RINO won't have a say this go around, because last time, they ignored the pleas of the Ca GOP and let the left have its way.

Talk about a major change in electoral politics. If representatives and electoral college are based only on citizen population it would have leftist politicians going nuts. The census is so important. There is a reason Rahm Emanuel had it placed under WH control as Obama chief of staff.

Three is too much. And, it should have more punishment the higher up the food chain they are. Local councilman vs. US President.

Hence, why I say they should be carrying Constitutions at all time.

It only worked correctly when Bill Clinton and Hussein won.  It's weird how it works in staggered cycles... almost as if the founders intended this to happen.
