License plates are a function of the state government. As such, each state has the right to decide what can and cannot go on them. Most states don't allow profanity, for example. Billboards are private property, normally sitting on private property, and come under the 1st Amendment.
Actually the same court ruled "citizen soveriegnty" and said that a state cannot force a citizen to "register" a car. Which is stupid too, as every state does that.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

But they ruled in favor of the raisin farmer in California.... which was a no-brainer!

The government should not be able to take your crop without payment!  Duh!

Shouldn't the Obamacare and gay marriage decisions be coming out any day now?  Maybe this week.

I predict that Obamacare goes down in flames and that gay marriage prevails.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

Those decision will come down tomorrow or Monday.

aarrgghh.... once again Chief Justice Roberts drops the ball.......

SCOTUS has upheld Obamacare one again by supporting their State subsidies.

I gotta think this Administration has Justice Roberts in a blackmailable position!  He is not this stupid!!

Apparently Justice Scalia's writing of the Dissent was a scathing critique of the Supreme Court itself.  He said the Court has moved beyond constitutional authority and into correcting the law!

It would appear that there is an internal war taking place.

So, we have a war in both of the political parties and now a war within the SCOTUS.

This is building up to a crescendo that does not bode well.

You don't have to register a car - unless you want to drive it on the public roads. Drive it around your property until it falls apart, but when it needs to go to the garage, you'll need to call up the flatbed, there and back.

The dissent, by Justice Antonin Scalia, was blistering.

"Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is 'established by the State,'" he wrote.

"Under all the usual rules of interpretation, in short, the Government should lose this case. But normal rules of interpretation seem always to yield to the overriding principle of the present Court: The Affordable Care Act must be saved."

If a law was badly formulated, that was not the Court's problem, he argued. It was up to Congress to rescue the subsidies for Obamacare, not the Justices. And if people did not like it, tough: that was why the Justices were meant to serve life terms. They were meant to be above politics.

Instead, Scalia noted, the Court had adopted a particular political bent.

He concluded:

We should start calling this law SCOTUScare.

Perhaps the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will attain the enduring status of the Social Security Act or the Taft-Hartley Act; perhaps not. But this Court's two decisions on the Act will surely be remembered through the years....And the cases will publish forever the discouraging truth that the Supreme Court of the United States favors some laws over others, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to uphold and assist its favorites.

George H W appointed Souter and "W" appointed Roberts. Not good track records. Might be another negative for Jeb with conservatives.

SCOTUS has got to stop being such a political entity. Leave the politics to the elected officials...

Excellent point, supsalemgr.  The Bush track record is not good and there is no reason to believe Jeb would be any different.

Eisenhower appointed Warren. It happens. Conservative Justices get appointed for life, and they fall in love with seeing their names getting praised in the media. Over and over we see Justices attempting to do the exact same thing Taney did in "Dred Scott" - end a political question by judicial fiat.

Yeah, my husband thinks Justice Roberts is on an ego trip with the narcotic effect of his power!  He wants to go down in history!!!  And he will.

I read somewhere a while ago that there was a study that SCOTUS justices get more liberal the longer they serve the Court. Has anyone else heard of this, or is there any merit?
