QuoteBy passing a bill last week that allows motorists to eat their roadkill, the Montana House of Representatives may be on their way to legalizing the ultimate drive-through experience.

State Rep. Steve Lavin originally introduced the bill into Montana's House to allow "game animals, fur-bearing animals, migratory game birds and upland game birds" who have been killed by a car to be harvested for food.

"This includes deer, elk, moose and antelope, the animals with the most meat," said Lavin.

Yes I jest, when one first reads it they can't help but think of the characters of the Bob Newhart show, which I truly miss.
But when you think about it, the Bill is actually a move in the right direction, it is removing stupid laws used to target people wanting to do the right thing.
I was raised "You kill it, you eat it and don't waste one part", and that's how American sportsmen have always believed.
Can you imagine hitting a bear with a truck, $2500,0 minimum damage, and the same worth in dollars sprawled out across the ground in meat to feed a family of three for a year.

Officer says what happened? Don't know sir, all of a sudden the air got really hard and smashed in the truck, now when the officer asks what happened, people will simply tell the truth and say it's in the back of the truck ready for the freezer.

I don't know what it's like in other states, but here in MN, if you hit it (or see someone hit it), you can call the game warden and ask for permission to take it, they usually let you.  I wouldn't take anything that I didn't see get hit though.

Here in Ca if you hit a bear particularly, Fish and Game want it to feed the other animals they have housed that were wounded or caught and waiting to be placed away from humans.
I agree with this to a point, they don't always come and collect the carcass and eventually it gets so bad, the county has to come out and dispose of it.
Where I live, there is only one warden in the entire county, which is the size of many states, so chances of even getting caught are very slim.
The last two deer I hit were on a motor cycle, killed one, but I was to injured to retrieve it, the other was wrapped up in the bike with me, when I stood up, it came to, and kicked me square in the shin.
That one I wish had died, it was dragging distance to the house.

The advantage of "Busted Duck" is they are not as greasy as most of the body fluids are on the grill of a Peterbilt.
