Title: Stink of desperation attends Jon Stewart DC rally
Post by: Solar on October 18, 2010, 04:14:08 PM
Viacom, owner of Comedy Central, is pulling out all the stops (and then some) to avoid an embarrassing turnout for Jon Stewart's announced rally in Washington, DC, squandering corporate funds in a desperate bid to stave off humiliation -- from Glenn Beck.

John Nolte of Big Hollywood obtained a memorandum which seems to be intimidating employees into boarding free buses (apparently paid for by the company) in New York City, and undertaking an 11 hour round trip on their Saturday holiday, to puff up the numbers for Stewart's event.

An internal email reveals that MTV is investing heavily in making a success of Jon Stewart's counter-rally to Glenn Beck's incredibly successful August event. But the music network's tactics give the whole affair a taint similar to October 2nd's "One Nation" rally, where all that Big Labor-SEIU astro-turfing still wasn't able to reproduce Beck's grassroots success. Below is a portion of an email that I'm told just went out to some, and maybe all, MTV employees. The wording is chipper and upbeat enough, but the subtext is worthy of an SEIU thug: [emphasis mine -- and I've removed any links for fear they go to private internal servers]:

Astro-turfing occurs ONLY from conservative sources. Just ask the loons in their matching T-shirts, carrying identical signs. Huffing-glue Pest said that Arianna arbitrarily decided to spend over $200,000 for buses, as well.

The Hive is your friend. The Hive will give you a box lunch and a nice day-ride, singing 1960s protest songs, among like-minded comrades wishing to bring down America. All hail the Hive....  ::)

They had a rather impressive turn out in North Korea for the passing of the torch from one Dictator to his son, too!  That's why the Libs call the Tea Parties "Astroturf", they can't understand anyone turning out for anything if they aren't organized by someone else and even paid for attending!

Every election, it gets down to the same pandering for the Idiot Vote, the kids who show up just to meet their next "hook-up." The lemmings go where they are told and vote for whom they are told, because such people are sheep and can not be forced to think for themselves.

With all the homeless winos and beat out downtown junkies and crackheads they had to drag off the steam grates and out of the Anacostia housing projects to get the attendance up I imagine "Stink" is a very appropo term.
