All this hype about the mind blowing endorsement by some mystery person of the Trump, and pfffftt, like a fart in an packed elevator.
But Trump's sale and promotion of a flop event that got his crowd all worked up says more about Trump than it does about Palin, and his inability to read his liberal base support and give them what they want.
Like offering a vampire convention Holy water during the break.
But despite the damage Trump did to his own campaign, my bigger question is did Palin have a price on her values, or was she merely a grifter like Trump?
I look at myself, my family, those close to me, and not one of them would ever sell out their core beliefs for money.
Palin as a Governor always did what was right for the State, regardless of party.
The Dim party even scoured her background looking for anything to discredit her with, and nothing.
She picked up the mantle of TEA and ran with it, kind of like a cripple, but ran regardless.
Then out of the blue, backs a liberal running as a Pub.
I literally compare this to one being against violence and then one day becomes a serial killer.
Did Palin sell out her principles, or was her persona a complete lie all along?
I think there was some sort of falling out between Sarah and Cruz, remember Palin originally backed Cruz full bore when he was the first to announce his Candidacy. Realist and student of human nature that I am, my guess would be that Sarah began hinting at a VEEP slot again.....Ted may have shrugged his shoulders with somebody else in mind.....Sarah goes to Trump, how'dja like me as your Veep I and only I can bring you the TEA Party....Donald....master of the deal, says Ok....or maybe Trump outreached to Palin, whisked her away from Cruz, perhaps a generous donation here and there to her favorite Charity. I keep telling you folks, Trump will buy the election, he has the dough to buy anyone or anything.
Just a few side notes, I see no massive immigration of the TEA party over to Trump's camp as of yet and wouldn't hold my breath over it. If anything Sarah is on the outs, proving to be a quisling.
Next thing, if there is anybody the Dems hate more than Ted Cruz it is Sarah Palin, the left just cannot stand her. So her endorsement of Trump may not go over well with any Dem's planning on voting for him.
Like Solar says, its a fart that fizzled.
I still say Ted Wins Iowa and Trump goes nutz over it.

I would say your analysis is sound. Cruz is smart enough to know Palin would not be a plus for him on the ticket. He needs no assistance in proving he is a true conservative. OTOH, Trump needs a conservative since he is not one.

You know Solar I though about this last question you put forth. I may be way off base with my opinion but Sarah Palin just joined the circus with it's clown as the ringmaster.
Like you stated when Palin governed she governed hard, strong, straight forward, and with the truth. But when she was on the sideline chanting and cheering for her cause it IMO she always looked like a sideshow circus type of think. Like a reality show.
Then the endorsement of Trump comes along and she gets up their blaming everybody and their brother for her family problems it kind of confused me to the point where she reminded me of every liberal making a fool of themselves.
As far as Tea is concerned. This situation with Sarah is like people you meet in life. Some remain friends for life. Some help you along the way then disappear. Then there are the ones that really fooled the crap out of you. You thank them but you both go your separate ways.
Sarah lead the way and I thank her for that, but now is the time to move on. There is a country that needs help being put back together and the only one I see doing that is Ted Cruz.
What's that saying...lead, follow, or get out of the way. I think Sarah Palin just got out of the way.
By siding against Cruz's tax-plan, she's choosing to be taxed twice on an entire gamut of items and business-transactions. That's not the TEA mindset.

Exactly Bronx, she did turn into her own circus act, then joined one with Trump.
I wonder, and this is merely guessing. But could it be that after being involved with the Establishment, she lost all hope, as in thinking she could not beat the system, that in her mind, taking her cut wasn't so much selling out, but getting while the getting is good, taking the heat and packing up for parts unknown?
I know it sounds strange, but it boggles the mind that someone could throw away all their values and join the enemy camp.
Then there's always the other scenario, where she turns on Trump?
Yeah, all speculation, but I just can't wrap my head around all of this.
Rand made the same mistake, and look where it got his dumb ass.
She's was likely promised the Secretary of Energy position. I posted links to stories on another thread. Back late last year and then without hesitation when asked recently if offered a position in Trump's cabinet should he win she swiftly replied Energy Secretary. She didn't sell her soul for nothing.

Solar, about this I must seriously but respectfully disagree. She DUMPED ON the needs of the people of Alaska when she QUIT the governorship midterm, leaving the Alaskans high and dry. Her excuse? She needed to spend more time with her family.
A suspiciously short time later a new reality TV show came on, starring Palin and her entire family.
I suspect she quit her job to make $$$ on a TV show.
I liked her before this happened, but have had little respect for her since.

I agree with the former poster. She quit the governorship to make hay while she still had a tad of credibility. Now she's trying to get it back. What I can't figure out is why Ann Coulter is such a Trump supporter. She's neither incoherent nor a dingbat like Palin is. This. Of course, neither I nor dingbat were on this forum at the time to have told you so, but I was on to her from day one, from the first speech she gave as nominee. I knew, and predicted, that was the end of any hope McCain had for the presidency. Within two weeks any bounce he got out of her was gone, and she was a millstone around his neck the rest of the campaign, despite the inexplicable enthusiasm she engendered in a certain segment of the conservative electorate.

Though I agree with

Besides that, "far right" seems a dismissive and condescending term, as if conservatism isn't a legitimate, mainstream political philosophy. There are tens of millions of us, the overwhelming majority upstanding and patriotic people.
Palin isn't "far right" either. She's just an opportunist, a shameless self-promoter, and a greedy, unprincipled person.

As I said, for one thing, picking Palin as a running mate didn't help. But as I also said, he was already well behind by that point. Asking me to remember and pick out the details eight years after the fact is pretty hard, but it wasn't one thing, necessarily. The voters just weren't eating his dog food. He was never ahead.
The way he handled the financial crisis hurt him for sure, but that only mattered to the final margin. He was always going to lose. Likewise, it is a fallacy to say that Romney lost because of Hurricane Sandy. It was dismaying to see how the mostly brain-dead voting populace responded (by definition, casting one's ballot for president based on the PR imagery of a disaster "response" is brain-dead), but post-election analysis shows that Romney's loss was cooked in the books by then. He was out-hustled on the ground and never would have turned a 1-2 point polling deficit into victory anyway.

Mitten is irrelevant, he lost because he's squishy and the nation has had it with libs.
McCON was the focus of the issue, and I'm with Boo, he was warned not to push the bailouts, that it would be the end of his career, in fact I wrote Bush a letter telling them so, that if they did this, it would be pissing on the Constitution and a nail in the coffin of the GOP, (in summary) and it was.

You always want to interpret events in the context of your own belief system. I've noticed that by now. No problem, we'll just disagree on this one. He was well behind before he broke off campaigning and flew to Washington. It was a desperation move IMO, just like the Palin nomination. You could well argue that there was enough time for him to have come back, but during the whole course of the campaign, he never made a serious challenge. I can't prove a negative, I just don't see it that way. He was a poor candidate and ran a poor campaign.

Deserves it's own topic.
You all raise an interesting aspect over the issue.
As late as the 60s, Conservatism wasn't even a consideration, it's just how a society functioned, in the 80s it became political, in 2000 it became divisive, and today it has degrees of divisiveness.
A masterpiece of the lefts ability for divide and conquer.
A topic like this has several aspects, such as perpetrators like the Marxist Dim party, enablers like Leftist media, but one aspect that's never mentioned is the guards at the gate, the ones we charge to alert us, to sound the alarm, pundits.
Sadly, those charged with this duty seem to be a different kind of enabler, the fuel feeders, these people make something out of nothing by making things bigger than they are, and Rush is notorious for this as is Savage and a few others.
Then we have traitors to the cause of the ilk of Palin, whose name will be synonymous with treason.
Anyway, I think this may be deserving of it's own thread. Any takers?

I don't care for this remark out of you. Sounds like something off the Blueridge Board. We, here in this forum, have all graduated from junior high and further. These are the kind of remarks one might here in a locker room.
This is a political forum, not comedy central. There is plenty out there to comment on without getting vulgar. I say this because of the forum's vast readership, it didn't get there from comments such as this one from you.

You must not be reading many posts.

Well, you must NOT be doing the same. In my defense, I've been very sick lately. It has been hard for me to keep up but remarks like that one is not what I want to see when i'm gone for awhile or not able to get on here everyday.

Knock it off fuddy.
Fuddy's fault? It occurs to me, when you make the choice to keep a pet troll, the troll is going to crap on the carpet from time to time.

He's come through before. Somebody left the screen door open, and now he's crapping all over the place. I'm just too lazy to go through the admin menu to remember how to ban him.

And so the newbies know, the really only rule on this forum is that you back up your positions when called on it. Fuddy, like any Marxist or liberal, is not capable of doing this, so at some point along the discussion after many faceplants, he starts crapping everywhere and go into a meltdown phase.

My apologies to any of the "vast" readership who took offense. (I also suggest they look up the definition of vast. If this site has a vast readership, my kids' sandbox is a vast desert.) I know from reading many of the posts of the founders of this great bastion of free speech that they could not have been offended. Irritated, yes, as can be seen from the invective that spews forth as a result of a little snark on my part, but not offended.

This software package allows admins to turn a banned member's name to a different color, to notify other posters. The Other Place™ did it all the time, also with YaBB.
If you'd rather just put up a small avatar stating BANNED, I'll have it for you today if you want it.

Well, that sure makes it corn-fusing to folks who read only a few of the threads and may not know that Poster XYZ was tossed. It isn't always mentioned in whatever thread the loser was in.

Because of the lack of media coverage on Trump/Palin since the announcement the answer may be yes, for us. But I would be willing to bet that the Trump/Palin contract is still very much alive behind the scenes. If, God forbid, Trump wins the primaries we will learn later about the fruit of the contract. And I doubt it will be beneficial to us.

Yeah.... what's the deal with that, maybe 1 or 2% points? Toss her aside like one of his ex-wives? Palin just blew what little political capitol she had left on a left winger.

She's like the drunk aunt that would always proselytize her form of morality and drink as the night went long vowing she would see all of you go to Hell.
Then one day she receives court ordered detox, she does well and goes about leading a quiet life while secretly hitting the bottle.
Then one lucid morning before inebriation sets in, she gives Cruz a call, Heidi (well aware of her problems) says thanks Sarah, but we already have all the help we need. (Cruz dodges bullet)
Palin pissed, calls Trump and whores herself out.
Now Trump discovers what a mistake he's made and relegates Palin to the kids table at a private island in Fiji.
She's still out there and taking credit for "making" Cruz as Senator. She's looks a bit foolish even though it's the Today Show. About 25 seconds into it she makes no sense saying Trump will restore Constitutional Government. Maybe it's me but I didn't see her getting much help from the audience when she looked to them for applause.
