Title: Sometimes Our Judicial System Stinks
Post by: crepe05 on September 28, 2010, 04:30:57 PM
Two men broke into a home in Baton Rouge, stole a tv, shot and killed the mom and shot her 9 y.o. daughter.  Now, one of the men has been apprehended.  It was reported on tv news this evening that for one of his previous arrests (assault) he was supposed to do "random acts of kindness."  I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  Plus, if he had served his full six month sentence for his last arrest he would still be in prison, and the mom and little girl would be going about their normal evening.  Now one's dead,  and the little girl has had two surgeries.

I don't know the family, although they go to the same church we do (we go to the early service).  The little girl also goes to our church school.

I get so angry at our judicial system.  As mr crepe said when I called and told him what I heard on the news, "I hope that judge who gave him Random Acts of Kindness as a sentence can sleep at night."  mr crepe is nicer than I am on this one.  I don't care if the judge sleeps well or not.

Fifty million AARRGGHHS!

I always find these stories amazing.   I think the judge should be held personally responsible for these new crimes.   At least kick him out and don't let him ever be a judge again.  Random Acts of Kindness my ass. >:(

I have no problem with "vigilante justice" in cases like this.  Anybody remember the movie "The Star Chamber"?  The plot involves judges who hire hitmen to carry out "capital punishment" on blatantly guilty murderers who were found innocent by tainted or ignorant juries, or whose convictions were reversed by appeal.

Here's some follow-up:

Suspect in fatal Beauregard Street shooting arrested in Violet (http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/103931889.html)

Reading through the piece it looks like he got out early on a sentence for illegal concealed carry for "good behavior and performance of work or self-improvement activities, or both".

Plus they are suing the cops who arrested him because they are racists.

Maybe if they would stop living the "profile" then they would see it isn't racist.

I can't remember how many times I heard someone say..."This wasn't my fault."  Caught red handed and we waste time on a trial.  Sentences are too light and the punishment rarely fit the crime.  It is sad what happens in our courts today. :( :(

For every day you serve, they take a day off.  His six month sentence became a three month sentence.

That's why we need more and bigger prisons and judges who haven't had their testicles removed. Violent criminals should have to do their full sentence. No exceptions and no early release for this hugging their inner child pseudo therapy bullshit either.

Everyone has to draw a line somewhere. Otherwise you'll have people ahooting each other over noise issues with neighbors.

When I worked in the Work Alternative Program.  For ever 2 days in they got one off.  So a 45 day sentence became 30 days.  etc...
I never quite understood it myself.  Although the "time off for good behavior" could be pulled if they messed up while in jail. ??? ???

Yeah. In a liberals mind the criminals are victims and the victims are criminals.

That's why felons vote so consistently for the Democrat Party.
