Quran

Learning and teaching, reading and memorizing, planning and acting on the contents, there are numerous traditions in the Sunni and Shiite sources that its studying can display and manifest the importance and greatness of the Heavenly book. These traditions have been compiled in the books of traditions under the headings of "books of traditions", the "book of the excellence of Quran", and the "book of the Merits of Holy Quran". The commentators of Holy Quran especially the commentators living in the beginning of Islam have narrated these traditions in their books. In addition to the above, some of the earlier scholars have made efforts to write books under the heading of "the book of the Fazl-ul-Quran or the book of Navader-ul-Quran."

Like the Bible, it is a book of reference for many, but to take the book literally, means one has to be a fool and a fanatic.
Sadly, there is a faction of the Islamic Religion that take it in its literal sense, and it is these fundamentalists that have usurped your Religion.

Are you willing to say these people are crazy and need to be stopped at any cost, even death?

They haven't "usurped" their religion that IS their religion. The Quran is the direct word of GOD as given to the prophet Mohammad via the archangel Gabrial. It is not inspired by the Holy Spirit, as is the majority of the Bible; but the direct word. Only the Decalogue meets that standard in the Bible. It is not the Fundamentalists who have "distorted" the Quran - they are in fact the most devout of Believers - it is those who do not follow the word of the Quran to the letter, who are the "backsliders". A major problem is that our modern intellectuals, because they have no transcendental religious faith of their own (they do believe in leftism, but that lacks a transcendental being), refuse to credit others with actually believing and following it. Anyone who professes religious faith MUST have something wrong with them. Either they are lying, or they've been fooled by their religious leaders, or they've misinterpreted it. Note how quickly they leap on any incident of a Christian failing to live up to the standards they profess, not understanding that we are all sinners and can only attempt to do our best. Because the believe in a system that promises perfection, they cannot comprehend the idea of Christian forgiveness. In any case, another major difference between Islam and Christianity, is the manner in which GOD is seen and portrayed. In Islam God can be described as the ultimate "Caliph", an all powerful being, whose ways are beyond any possible understanding of man. You can only submit to his inscrutable will, and hope that in the end he deigns to let you enter into Paradise. Christianity portrays the Almighty as a loving, rational, logical being. Far too often disappointed by his children's failings. Note I said rational and logical. Christianity believes that GOD ordered the universe in a rational and logical way. There are rules which even HE follows. Thus these rules can be learned, and doing so brings us closer to the Almighty. There has never been any real animosity between Christianity and science. So when some left loon starts talking about clashes between Christianity and science, he/she/it are usually talking about an Earthly struggle over power (Galileo and the Church for example). Islam - unless I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me if I am - believe that there are no rules to the universe. We exist only due to the moment to moment exercise of the will of GOD. As such we cannot discover any "rules", all that we need to know has been revealed to us in the Quran. That accounts for much of Islam's scientific backwardness. Even their advances during the "Golden Age" was due to their Christian, Chinese, Indian and Persian subjects, and once these peoples converted to Islam, the advancements stopped. Also as subjects of an Almighty being, whose workings are beyond our understanding, Islam has no real understanding of cause and effect. It breeds a fatalistic culture where every occurrence is simply the "Will of Allah" . And their GOD is irrational, there is necessarily no logic to HIS acts. The Quran doesn't allow for Lot bargaining with the Almighty for the righteous men of Sodom. GOD wills it, so that's it. Sodom is toast. The righteous will be taken into Paradise the Sinners go to Hell. As we Marines used to say - half jokingly: "Kill them all, let GOD sort them out"
"LIBERALS: their willful ignorance is rivaled only by their catastrophic stupidity"!

I know, I was just throwing a bone for the sake of discussion.
I doubt he'll be back to defend his position, but it was worth a shot.

Many Islamic scholars are quite certain that the Prophet took much of what was in the Bible and applied it to Islam.

All one needs to do is read the first 5 pages or so of the Quran to understand that their religion commands them to kill infidels.  I have a copy of this book and I have read many other copies.  I speak the truth.  ;)

Everything I needed to know about muslims, I learned the morning off 9/11/2001.

This barbaric moon cult was founded by a child molester whose main job was robbing caravans. Its "Prophet" is as false as the running dog of a false god, Allah.
