If I didn't make the inference strong enough my skepticism about the mental health profession is honestly earned. I've seen ineptitude and incompetence by people who really did care. They're just undercut by the lack of any underlying science.

But "dysfunction" means something's broken. That something isn't operating the way it would if it weren't broken. I just don't think lefties are dysfunctional and that to say that lefties are nuts is self-indulgence; if lefties are nuts then conservatives are sane. They're damaged goods and we're the way it's s'pozed to be. That's just so convenient it makes me uneasy and I reflexively reject the too convenient solution.

I was thinking that lefties remind me of nothing so much as the Lost Boys from Never Never Land. The villains are unequivocally, if not too threateningly, evil, the Lost Boys and Peter Pan are unequivocally good and nothing too serious ever occurs. I suppose you could call that a form of mental illness but you can call anything anything. But if the definition doesn't get you something, if it doesn't capture some essential quality then it's just a sticker you've stuck onto something you don't understand to differentiate it from all the other things you don't understand.

I know what you mean, and I don't think all liberals are mentally ill, but its the hardcore lib that tends to create the stereo type, a small percentage, but a very vocal group.
Think about all the political rallies with the nuts they attract, the ones calling for death of those that don't agree with them.

They could easily quell these nuts, but for some reason it doesn't seem to bother them.
