I thought maybe it would be good to have a main thread for the RNC so there wasnt 1000 new topics posted about stuff going on during the convention. If you guys think its a good idea, please pin this. If you dont, just delete the thread.
The next 4 days are gonna be a laughing stock and one hell of a cluster f*ck. Get your popcorn ready folk!
I think it's a great idea to have a 'Convention' specific thread and I agree its going to be a cluster. Trump in all of his 'glory' will demonstrate how much of a buffoon he really is and will continue to be an embarrassment to the GOP. He can't help himself. The MSM will happily be focusing on all of Trump's shortcomings. The only day I plan to tune in is on Wednesday which is the day Cruz is supposed to give his speech.
One positive; some of the RINO's won't be attending; Kasich, Bush dynasty, Rubio and Romney. Christie and Giuliani will make up for the RINO absence.

I will be watching off and on. I like to see what all sides are doing. Mostly I am looking for signs the GOP has someone they are developing, maybe speaking on the undercard. The Democrats started grooming Obama in 2000. The GOP needs stop waiting for leaders to naturally rise to the top they need to grow some leaders.
After 911 a Illinois Congresswoman was in a greeting line with President Bush for a Congressional Dinner the President was having for Congress and she had a pin that said "Obama for President" President Bush at first thought it said "Osama for President" and the Congresswoman explained Obama was a state senator from Illinois. President Bush said "Never heard of him." The Congresswoman replied "You will, Mr. President. You will."
And in 2004 the DNC gave Obama a keynote spot where he gave his "There is only One America" speech. The GOP needs something like that. Conservatives need someone like that.
Conservatives (and I would say this applies to every ideology) need to do this. Ted Cruz may be your guy today but he is not the best you can do IMO. And I will say this to Democrats, Republicans, Tea Party Supporters, Libertarians, Whomever you are, your party or movement should be searching to BUILD a leader that espouses your key fundamentals. Anything else seems like just leaving the whole thing to chance and the problem with that is those strategies lose a lot more than they win.
We need to grow more leaders on purpose in this country. From all sides. Because no matter what side you are on we will need someone that can work across the aisle to get anything done unless we are satisfied with the status quo in which case we should keep doing what we are doing because we will keep getting the same results.
Conservatives need to figure out a way to get more people to want to support those ideals. An immovable object ...never moves.
IMO.
Seriously, who was surprised when the party bulls actually did this? Who among us does NOT believe these morons did so, believing that by November those naughty scamps will return to the (*choke*) Big Tent where all will be spiffy.

So then there's name recognition and the old adage that the less we know about a candidate the more likely we are to vote for him (or her or it). How likely is Shrill to name anyone who would upstage her? (Can you say,

Hillary does not want anyone stupid enough to say things like Biden has done against Obama. She wants an airtight, opaque, non-disclosured stonewalled united front....and won't get it from any governor with any realpolitik experience from running

So eight years after Obama was elected and the democrats held both houses the best they could do is a 68 year old progressive who has been running for the presidency since 1999 and a 74 year old socialist who never held a full time job until he was 40.
The last thing you should be talking about is the GOP who have won nearly 1000 elections over the last 3 elections and had two latinos, a black man and a woman run for the presidency.

The direction of the GOP is fascism. Trump's people cleared the media off the convention floor.

.@FoxNews producer: kicked off #gopconvention floor by police. Secret Service saying all media off the floor. #RNCinCLE #FNPolitics
— Bret Baier (@BretBaier) July 18, 2016
This convention is being dubbed by numerous media outlets as "The Trump Convention." It's no longer the GOP convention. It's no longer about the Republican party. It is all about Trump.
RELATED: Trump Cancels Press Credentials of Washington Post
So, the man who has made numerous vows to disseminate the First Amendment, threatening to sue reporters and news outlets who didn't provide what he deemed as fair and positive coverage, had media kicked off the floor. The order may not have come directly from him, but it was no doubt at his direction.
Donald Trump does not tolerate opposition and he certainly doesn't want what his campaign has announced will be the "greatest reality show of all time" tarnished by any whiff of dissent.
Is this what we can expect in a Trump presidency? Will the "free press" no longer be free but rather be controlled by his regime?

And pretell, why should I care what a CNN hack has to say about a True Conservative says?
What Cruz did tonight was simply amazing in establishing an outlet for Conservatives to vote their conscience, and you post this nonsense, why?
If anyone comes across a link to the Ted Cruz speech, I'd like to give it a listen.
If the Trump clan got pissed at Ted - GOOD!!!
It's about time Trump started making NICE to Ted, TEA and Conservatives - we don't need Trump, and he's already said he doesn't want us. After a year of verbally assaulting Ted Cruz, what was Donald Trump expecting - surely not some limp-wristed, sad puppy dog speech... ending with Ted bending down to kiss the Trump ring?
This Trump guy thinks he's so above reproach, he can just "change his language, Ted's a good guy" - without any effort to follow his words with action. So, now who is the thin-skinned, sensitive one? Ted's pretty darn tough to take all that CRAP and still act civil - apparently Trump hasn't the maturity for the Presidential Office.

I personally thought he showed class. He congratulated Trump first and foremost. He spoke of the need to bring the party together, spoke about the need to stop Hillary. He bade people to not sit out this election but to get out and vote.. Spoke long about what this country stands for, what Republicans should be standing for.
And the media and trumpsters are freaking out because he didn't say, vote for Trump?

Got to listen to it, yes, I agree Cruz hit all the right points.... except he refocused attention on Freedom / Liberty.
What the audience wanted, kissing the ring of Trump and fawning over him... like the sell-outs, they didn't get.
From here, if your conscience says "
Drink the koolaid Trump merits the presidency, vote Trump", go for it.
My conscience is screaming Trump is dangerous, and those who oppose him now will have targets on themselves, should he win the nomination. It also says Trump doesn't care about uniting the party, because he has not made any good will gesture(s) toward Cruz, TEA or Conservatives - so, beware!

This was priceless. Glad he suggested we not stay home and get out to support down ballot candidates.
Every news source out there is reporting that Cruz got booed, Cruz didn't honor his commitment to support the GOP candidate, he has damaged his career, he won't get re-elected as Senator, etc.
So my thought is this. IF Trump is elected and he decimates this country and turns out to be a dictator which we know full well he will, Cruz will run in 2020 as the one person who refused to endorse him. That will carry him into the oval office. Unfortunately, if Clinton is seated, he will be blamed for advising everyone to vote their conscious.
Cruz stayed true to his supporters and he continues to stand for liberty, conservatism and above all the Constitution!
CRUZ! Reigniting the Promise of America

Hmm...
Donald Trump said Tuesday that he would no longer honor his pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee for president, while fellow candidates Ted Cruz and John Kasich refused to say whether they would back the party's pick.
All three GOP contenders appeared at a CNN town hall in Milwaukee one week before Wisconsin's April 5 primary.
When asked if he would keep the pledge he signed last September, Trump responded, "No, I won't." The real estate mogul explained that he was taking back the pledge because, "I have been treated very unfairly," and listed the Republican National Committee and party establishment among those he believes have wronged him.
QuoteSo Donald Trump broke the pledge and Trump cultists had no problem with it.
