I frequent a blog that has a moderately large following on FB, we have formed a small group of those of us who post frequently on the main conservative site.  One of the gentlemen that post there is stationed in Afghanistan.  He checked in as frequently as he could, and we appreciate his perspective. (I tell you this as relevant backstory)

Yesterday, our military friend went to check out the main site and found that he was no longer allowed to see it.  It was blocked for "political activism".  When he posted about it on FB, a Sr. Officer  (not his) responded that they could still see the site, but that lower ranks were (for lack of a better word) censored from political sites, so as to remain politically neutral.

Do you think this is truly possible?  Is the military politically neutral?

The military can block any site they want for any reason: usually they will say it is Necessary for good order and discipline.

Also there used to be a rule that one was not allowed to be politically active, endorse candidates, wear buttons etc etc when on duty and in uniform.

They want to create the illusion of politically nuetral. In my day they were far right, I imagine nowadays they are more moderate and maybe more leftists especially at the top.

Billy's right, the Military is strict about being in uniform and attending political functions, or being on duty and expressing personal views.
But when I was in as billy mentioned, it was hardcore Conservative, yet we were still held by the same standards, unless they changed Military code of conduct, and I doubt they have, this guy has not broken any rules and needs to take it up the chain of command.
If he still doesn't get results, he needs to contact his Representatives in both Houses, assuming they aren't a couple of libs as well.
