Hmmmm.....Did not see that in your last post.  I have been tapering off from work for 30 years.  LOLOL   So what would be your cut off point.  50, 60, 63, 65, 70,75, or 80 years olds.

Then why do you say my solutions are not attainable?

These are reasonable cuts to me, and I don't think they will put people in soup lines.  It will free us up.

Reasonable to you- you're what, 35, 36, not on SS, Medicare, or Medicaid, yet, with the projected age out a good ways from your age now. I agree the DOEd and DOEnergy can be cut. Nobody will dare f**k with the Big 3 and of course, the DOD is off limits.

The operative phrase, Taxed is 'you don't think' they will put people in soup lines. and it will free us up. Guess what, Buddy, just cause you don't think it will hurt, doesn't mean it won't.

Say we cut the DoEnergy and DoEducation tomorrow.  What would that hurt?

I can definitely see an end for the dept of education, it will revert to the States, they seemed to do it better long before that behemoth was ever conceived.

Not one blooming thing, but it is a far cry from what is needed.

I'm a little older than you, Solar. Okay, a bunch older. :) I remember when Mr Johnson and the DIMS proposed the Department of Education and the subsequent allotment of money to the States for such. The argument was simply the states were not doing their job, nothing was uniform, ( ain't equality wonderful ) therefore the Feds had to step in and do the job correctly. Ever since, every President has wanted to be known as The Education President. Hasn't worked out so well, has it?

And you call that an argument for status quo?

Shooter, you have to tell people it is possible.  You are an elder, and need to help make us yungins think it is possible and doable....  If you always slap it down, then that negativity is just one more mental hurdle we have to outsell to conservatives...

Thats the difference in a defeatist and an optimist.
I say its not only possible, but essential and inevitable, we need to return to States power over Fed in far more aspects and the dept of ed is one of the easier ones.

Yes!  We need to spread it around, and educate as many people as we can.  If people get it into their head that it isn't possible, then they may think "Why bother?"...

They need to get it in their head that it is inevitable, that there is no other option.
Then, and only then, will it happen.

Its like when you realize you no longer have a working car, you quickly find yourself with very few options, especially since you are in debt beyond belief.

Thats where the Country is right now, so when people get it through their head that were actually broke, then they will accept the little changes, and the dept of ed will not be missed in the slightest by the public, only the politicians.

I have no earthly idea where you came up with that off the wall crap. Did not say it was a reason for the status quo. I said it was the reason given for starting the programs. By inference, when the final nut cutting takes place, many will hide behind the same argument.
