QuoteEuropeans, and especially Germans, breathed a sigh of relief last Thursday when amid fears that Moscow would not restart flows along the Nord Stream 1 pipeline after its 10 day maintenance period, Putin turned the gas back on, if just to its pre-maintenance peak level of about 40% of maximum capacity.

Alas Europe's muted celebration were not meant to last, and with many speculating that Russia was just waiting for the right opportunity to turn the screws on Germany, both literally and metaphorically, that's precisely what happened moments ago when shortly after Siemens finally delivered transport documents for the controversial Nord Stream turbine that had been stuck in Canada for weeks, Gazprom unexpectedly announced it would halt one more Nord Stream turbine at its Portovaya compressor station from July 27, "taking into account the technical conditions of the engine," the Russian company says in a statement.

Hilarious!
I commend Putin for manipulating his enemies as the provide armor and munitions to Ukraine.
Did the EU, especially Germany expect him to suddenly turn humanitarian?

Yep, Putin holds all the cards!

Lets not forget, Trump offered them a deal on liquified Ng.

Ukraine Is Losing The War... And So Is Europe

Beyond the damage in Ukraine, the war also has significant casualties in the rest of Europe as the continent is losing its most competitive energy supplies, compromising the region's manufacturing edge and accelerating an inflation wave that through higher energy costs will severely affect the wellbeing of its population this coming winter.

Europe has been trying for years to diversify its energy sources but it did not have a comprehensive contingency plan to counteract the impact of abruptly severing access to Russia's oil and gas since the beginning of the Ukraine war. European politicians have grossly exaggerated the substitution potential of other energy sources (like LNG) and are facing the need to accept alternatives that not too long ago were considered politically unpalatable, like the reopening of coal production in Germany.

On the other hand, dissenting and unorthodox European political views are sounding louder, as Hungarian prime minister Orban's recent speech where he boldly mentioned that Russian sanctions and arming Ukraine have failed, Ukraine can't win the war, the more weapons go to Ukraine the more territory it will lose and that the West should stop arming Ukraine and focus on diplomacy.

Something puzzles me. When Trump made the offer and Germany refused it, that didn't shut a single door.
So why isn't Germany asking Biteme for fuel?
Nothing changed, or did it? Are we maxed out on domestic production because of the Dims stupidity?

None of this makes sense.

If we are maxed out you can bet your bottom dollar it is because of the dems. Proof? If there was any way to pin higher prices on Trump they would be talking about that 24/7. Right now imo the maxed out is regulation related, lift the regulations, get someone in office who understands business and who the oil companies can trust, and the flow will be turned on.

So far every oil shortage we have experienced seems to  have come with dems in office and goes away when a republican gains office.

Absolutely! So one can easily assume Germany doesn't really want to fix the issue.

From what I have read and heard we are maxed out currently on production - and it is because of Biden. Oil production is not turned on and off like a light a den table light. Oil companies have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders. Therefore, they are not going to make investments in new production if the current administration has openly said they want to put them out of the fossil fuel business.

All true!
So here's the question. Would the DNC open the taps in support of Germany, and why isn't Germany asking us for help?
We all know why, crashing the global economy is far more important than the lives of the citizenry.

I also see 1) they hate the United States, 2) they are afraid to anger Putin, 3) they trust Russia more than the U.S. or the E.U.  Might see some new alliances over there soon. Lets see how they react when there is no heat.

What's bad for Germany, and I guess the rest of the E.U., is they hold no cards. They can not make a decision based on any moral grounds, as they shared the same bed as the devil.

The democrats would throw Germany under the bus. The party has been taken over by the leftist "greens".
