As the reason points more towards green energy, or rather the lack of it's consistency, I'm guessing the truth getting out is moving further away. Bad things happen when power surges, either up or down, coming in or going out.

Hz is 60 for my region, I assume because of transfers of power, it is the same for all of North America. Since it is higher, I really really hope the head monkeys here are paying attention.
That's the main reason. Without an anchor, such as hydro, coal, or nuclear, holding the frequency stable, any fluctuation in the grid would have devastating effects.
Wind dies, clouds move in, the shipbuilding industry takes lunch, then resumes heavy use after 10s of thousands of people just flushed their toilets, putting even more strain on the grid to pump water. All the while trying to support the rail system, and then some moron plugged in his car. :bigl  :bigl  :bigl
Hz is a reflection of a lack of amperage, just volts, and without any real horsepower to back up the grid, Hz falls off dramatically.

I finally found the perfect spot for an animated gif of Putin.
If I wanted to attack the EU, wouldn't I have done it now?
