I was around for the Whittier Narrows Quake  in October 1987.  In Fact, it was at least 1/3 of the reason for our departure from California in December.  Only a Ricter 5.9, but lasted a full 20 seconds.  So, we took off for Capistrano to stay with friends a few days.  That night, there were hundreds of aftershocks off shore.  Kinda scary, but made for good surfing the next day.

I was riding my bike down a hill when a 5 hit Sac, I thought I had flat tires, but when I stopped, everyone had stopped as well, the road looked like ocean waves.
But I can't begin to imagine what an 8. is like. And now they're calling a tsunami warning.

There was a lady on the radio show Coast to Coast AM a few nights ago
who predicted that there was going to be a large earthquake (above 7) soon.

But she predicted that it would be in Southeast California,
near the Salton Sea.

So, not completely accurate.
