The 2011 State of the Union address is tentatively scheduled on Groundhog Day next year.

This next year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address occur on the same day. 

As Air America Radio pointed out, "It is an ironic juxtaposition of events; One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog."

Hee Hee, so if he comes out and sees him, and not his shadow, which one will be spooked? ::)

In my home State of Pennsylvania we celebrated "ground hog day"
Ala "punxetawney Phil" every year...then it became national and turned PC and got totally ruined especially when the PETA Loons found out we like shooting groundhogs as a past time, "ground hog day" being the official start of ground hog whacking season. :D

In them parts, They still call ground hogs "whistle pigs", if you whistle real loud, they will stand up and you can put a 22 right through their head.

So the analogy between a ground hog (whistle pig) and certain other critters is apropo. If  a lobbyiest whistles real loud will a congress man stand up and take the money?
