The prisons I've seen, (from the outside ), cover some pretty substantial acreage. I don't see any reason for separate buildings along the border. One continuous building, with walls separating the various facilities.

Prisons also sit on some pristine real estate in places. The sale of the land would help pay for the border prisons.

I think a prison in the middle of the Arizona-Sonoran desert is a great idea. Escape in either direction, become buzzard food! Almost as good as putting prisons on some speck of permafrost, in the Beaufort Sea. Escape - become Polar Bear chow!  :scared:

Most prisons are also at least two stories high. A single story, cost effective, continuous prison building, would easily cover the border.

If it were up to me, I'd use prisoner labor for many of the menial tasks associated with building it.

The entire concept would save us billions, across the board.

This is it folks, leave the borders unsecured, let 'em come pouring across the line so that when they overturn the State voter ID laws they can vote.

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it's closing the stations in order to reassign agents to high-priority areas closer to the border. "

If that's true^ then it reads like there's a lack of agents in the area and they need what they have in "high- priority areas".

And then there's this -

"According to Gallup, 68 percent of Americans want corporations to have less influence in America."

Me, I'd let them sit right in their cells, in where ever, until it was built. Indeed I might answer any questions on what's being built by saying we're building that border fence they've been lying about for decades. And then - BOOM - one morning get them up, start chaining them together, and loading them in cattle cars. Next stop - Joliet or Attica South.

What a guy!!!  Grows the federal government by doubling the number of border patrol agents, and simultaneously knocks the teeth out of immigration laws. All while Holder is arming the cartels. A very busy bunch indeed!

Yeah. That was kind of an after thought. And a separate peeve of mine...............I've always thought that nonviolent prisoners should be working. At least raising and growing their own food, where possible.

Uh, if the border patrol agents weren't - like - patrolling the Border - where were they?

The entire notion of patrolling an almost 2000 mile long border with humans, is silly. It's quite apparent that it doesn't work.

Sure you can, you simply need enough humans with the right equipment. Say a few National Guard divisions with night division gear and heavy weapons.

I think the primary ingredient, is having an administration in place that doesn't welcome law breakers with open arms.

Yeah right: "night division gear" . Try night vision gear.

The prison idea is a nice thought but it would cost us too much money to build the prisons and buy the righs to the private land

My suggestion is much better, and it wouldn't cost us a dime. Issue letters of marque to private security companies for all border enforcement/drug enforcement.  They keep all money, weapons, vehicles, planes, boats all assets these crimnals have that they can confiscate...voucher and destroy all drugs and other contraband.

It's a good idea Billy, but I don't believe you'd find a politician alive that would sign on to it. Somehow I could picture the border area becoming a war zone.

At first I was going to say: "good idea"! But it would be too easy for the cartels to use illegals as decoys. Send a bunch of illegals over, with back packs and empty Ak47's , while the real smugglers used a different route. And, to the smugglers, there's the added benefit, that no one in their right mind is going to assume that those AK's aren't loaded, so they could count on some "poor, dead, illegals" for publicity value. Shutting down the program. Hell, I'm surprised the cartels have used decoys with empty weapons already.
