OBAMA: WEALTHY IGNORE POVERTY BY SENDING KIDS TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS

by CHARLIE SPIERING

During a conversation about poverty, President Obama said he was concerned that more wealthy people were separated from poverty because they chose to frequent private institutions instead of public ones.

"Part of what's happened is, is that elites in a very mobile, globalized world are able to live together, away from folks who are not as wealthy, and so they feel less of a commitment to making those investments," he explained during a panel discussion on poverty at Georgetown University today.

Obama criticized the free-market system in America for allowing higher concentrations of wealth to exist among the rich while the bottom percentage was being left behind and receiving a smaller portion of that wealth.

"Those who are doing better and better, more skilled, more educated, – luckier – having greater advantages are withdrawing from the commons," he said. "Kids start going to private schools, kids start working out at private clubs instead of the public parks, an anti-government ideology then disinvests from those common goods and those things that draw us together."

– luckier –

I worked my ass off and did without some thing so my kids could go to a private school.  I was happy to do it as I know where I came from and was not going to have my kids there.  I would do it all over again with a smile on my face.

Same here.  My kids went to a great little primary public school in our neighborhood, which I was very involved with.  When they started getting a littler older, I detected a "pattern" I didn't like and put them in private.  We were far from rich, and I had to take full-time employment to make it happen.  And yes, I would do that all over again too.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

I worked my a$$ off home schooling my kids and Obama would kill my right to do that if he could!

He wants nothing but liberal/communism in the brains of our kids.  He will attack any other alternative till his dying breath!

It is his communism that keeps people in poverty.... not private education.

...... but of course we all know this here on the forum.....

We are into our fourth generation of school children having grown up with only one reasonable conclusion. That is to band together and arm up in future self defense against an enemy within, sponsored by the enemies outside.
Think of the wasted human potential as young Americans have been forced to direct  otherwise creative intellect towards practical matters of dealing with the primitive savages, code named Progressives. The dysfunction of it all, none necessary.

Your comment on this little subject says all that needs to be said.  Why in the world would he even venture into this subject is beyond me.  He really is crazy.

Why does he send his kids to private?  Sidwell costs about 36k a year.

When Obama got into office, he eliminated the voucher program in DC.  These were kids from poor areas, and the program was very successful.

It also cost about $8000 a year per student, where as the public schools in DC cost about $18,000 per year per student.  I'm sure it was the teachers union that made him see the light on that.  There is no way the public school system can afford to educate kids for less, it's their cash cow.

Tac the children of the President never do, for security reasons (so the WH claims that is). From what I've read and seen in the media back in 2010 when Obama opened his mouth making similar remarks. I do know they claim it's because anyone can send their kid to public school, where as at a private school they're "vetted" before being allowed to attend...how the hell that would affect S.S. protection is beyond me. Shouldn't the S.S. be doing this regardless of where his little angels run off too?

God, that man is such a hypocrite.   Does he not understand what a fool he makes of himself by such statements? I'll bet his kids went to private school in Chicago before he became president.

This is lock and step with Marxist behavior.  Marxists always think they're going to be the ones on top, and they are the last who would ever want to give up their wealth or lifestyles.  Conservatives and free market capitalists want the same system for all, while Marxists want their vision only for others.

Obama has had everything handed to him and has never worked (at a real job) a day of his life.  He sends his two girls to private schools, so it's natural that this elite son of a bitch would think that anyone else that has anything got it handed to him, just as he did.  No wonder he thinks that the winners are those who have struck it rich in Life's Lottery; just like him and the Clintons.  Luck and Lies!

Its the back ground for "you did not build that" which he does believe, and "we need to spread the wealth" which he wants to enforce.

Of course they went to private schools in Chicago. You can't expect a community organizer to send his kids that are being terrorized by thugs!

Good point.  I'm guessing they think you should give that extra money to someone else or to the government.  Income re-distribution and all that.
