Liberal stupidity showing itself during a crisis!

Police arrested a 47-year-old New York man accused of filling up 30 five-gallon Home Depot buckets with gasoline on Saturday night.

According to investigators, Yunus Latif, of Richmond Hill, collected money from his neighbors, bought gas at a Valero station almost 80 miles away in Orange and planned to bring it back to his neighborhood, where they had no power and gas.

Was he actually charged for 'hoarding' or for using those home depot buckets to contain gas?

Yeah, considering how many traffic lights were out; an accident might have proved "interesting"!

Look at the bucket on the near left with its top popped.

Better keep the windows down a while....

I've carried gas in these exact same buckets with a lid and they worked just fine.
My issue with this is these people are desperate, rules need to be relaxed during a crisis.

That headline seems really misleading.  The story reads like the issue was the containers, not that he bought that much.  It bothers me that gas hoarding laws would prevent you from helping your neighbor.  If you live next to an elderly couple who had a generator and enough gas for a few days, but were running low, why should the government prevent you from SAVING gas by making one trip for two households, as long as you have the propet containment?  Government drives me crazy.

This is the exact kind of activity that solves shortages.

The first few men to do this make extreme profits.

So a new wave replicates their acts of arbitrage and before you know it the shortage crisis is solved.

The state is literally making war on society with price controls and hoarding regulations.

Exactly!
They went out of the area effected most and bought fuel where people were less impacted, in turn, freeing up fuel supplies in their own area.

Whats next, bread and bullets?

Out here in Ca they redesigned gas can nozzles, these things make it far more dangerous to put gas in lawnmowers chainsaws etc.
The left got their pockets lined from this move, as well as their new laws for small propane tank nozzles.
This state is evidence of liberal idiocy!

These laws do nothing to protect people, just make their buddies rich.
Oh, and it's illegal to use a diesel yellow container for gasoline, even though the only difference in them is gas is the red ones.
As if fire is particular what it burns.
I understand what they were thinking, but somehow we made it all these years without their help.

Mine have all failed from weather, but luckily I have all my fuel delivered now.
