It is never ok to use violence under any circumstances HOWEVER, Democrats continue to use violence and intimidation against those who support President Trump. It IS permissible and legal to defend oneself.

I thought that  how to conduct their elections was considered the responsibility of each individual state?

It is up to the state legislatures to conduct their voting rules. Not the governor, not a judge, the legislature. It's in the constitution, you know that piece of paper you love to trash as irrelevant.
