I've seen lots of "reputable" commentators in the dead tree newspapers say exactly that, very explicitly.

So I guess I won't miss Mariner.

We have seen so many of them they jump right at us when they show up. We have learned it is to the forum's disadvantage to let them stick around as they run good guests away.

That reminds me of something I've seen several times
in the daily email the Ohio Supreme Court sends out.

Occasionally, the Court will find that a person is a "vexatious litigator"
and bar him from filing any more cases with the court.

Actually, he can still file cases from then on,
but the court can just ignore them if they want.

They don't have to bother dismissing cases from that person,
but they could accept one if they see any merit in it.
