Grisham issued an order Friday suspending state residents' rights to carry guns for self-defense in Albuquerque and other cities.

New Mexico state Rep. John Block (R-51) reacted to Grisham's order by calling for her to be impeached and removed from office.

Grisham's order took effect September 8, 2023, and it will last 30 days, after which Grisham said she will revisit the matter to determine if she will extend the ban another 30 days.

When a reporter questioned Grisham's issuance of the ban, noting the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Grisham responded by stressing her belief that "no constitutional right ... is intended to be absolute."

Grisham's order bans the carrying of firearms, openly or concealed, in public. The prohibition applies to licensed concealed carriers as well.

Nothing like blaming the wrong people for the crime increase. This will only increase crime which will lead her to ban in more cities with the same wrong results. Hopefully the courts will step in quickly and kick this out.

Can't help but wonder if the liberals in charge set her up to do this as a test. If it took guns away they would then try it nation wide under some phony crisis.

I curious how the court will word their ruling. No doubt about the constitutionality, BUT, the court, probably federal, can word it so there is no doubt that the 2nd is absolute, or they could word it that a State can not override the constitution. That would leave an opening for a national federal emergency to ban and start the process all over.. I'll be the first to admit she is pretty stupid, but right now I am not convinced this bimbo did this on her own. I'm not sure she is that stupid. 

Im curious what the real reason is. NM is a border state with an influx of illegals, IA crime has to be on the uptick. Maybe she is afraid citizens will defend themselves and start shooting the illegals, so she takes it upon herself to protect these people. I would ignore her "order" as unconstitutional and encourage everyone else to do the same, knowing damn well she has not the resources to enforce this.

The States had agreement in ratifying and upholding the Constitution they all signed onto, but to slap the peoples rights in the face by claiming an imaginary power that doesn't exist, all because of failed leftist policy?
What she did could be considered treason against the US.
Nah, this will end Monday, one way or another or the state will be in a civil war because sheriffs will not enforce an unconstitutional order.

"I am calling on counsel to begin the impeachment process against Governor Grisham," Lord said, according to a report from Fox News. "This is an abhorrent attempt at imposing a radical, progressive agenda on an unwilling populous. Rather than addressing crime at its core, Governor Grisham is restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Even Grisham believes this emergency order won't prohibit criminals from carrying or using weapons; a basic admission that this will only put New Mexicans in danger as they won't be able to defend themselves from violent crime."

There was a rally/protest of about 200 people, many/most of whom were carrying.  Nobody apparently got arrested.
