That's so damn funny! Well, except for the part about him getting away scotfree.

I can't stand a dirty person. Whether it's being personally dirty, or mindlessly throwing crap away on land that I enjoy. Hell, when I'm on the interstate, I look at the scenery...

And you know why he didn't litter?
Not because it was wrong, mind you, but because he was afraid of a ticket.

Which for me, proves my point, merely enforce the laws on the books regarding littering and this would be a non issue.
Ca used to stick you with a $1000.00 fine, now they just don't care.

My son has a 68 Malibu that leaked around the rear window.  Real bad.  And I knew a fellow that had a 69 Impala that leaked even worse.  Real rust bucket.  This was in the late 70's, so the car wasn't even ten years old, either.  I said something about it being so rusty and he said "Ah, she's got a little surface rust but she's solid!' and hit the left rear, pretty hard, right near the rear window.  The window fell into the trunk.  They sure don't make 'em like they used to, and I, for one, am glad.

I don't propose laws often, but isn't driving around in a garbage filled car just asking for an accident? Seriously, what if a bottle or can got lodged under the brake pedal, and prevented it being pressed?

I agree, but it ain't just third worlders that do that.  I think the point is if you make it harder to litter, or make it so that litter bio degrades faster, there will be less litter.  The free market has no incentive to do that unless it's cheaper OR better at the same cost.  But people are going to litter regardless.  For some it's a matter of freedom!
In case you missed it earlier.

QuoteYou really don't see the flaw in your thinking, do you?
You, like all libs merely enable the perpetrators to be absolved of all responsibilities..
Now they would look at the crap in the back seat of their car and scoop it into the gutter.

I mentioned paper? Where did I mention paper? Are you talking about the stupid trend towards wrapping reams of paper in plastic? The guy that thought of that stupidity should be shot!

Why?  Isn't it cost effective?  Efficient?  If it's not, why would they be doing it?

I agree, but in Jerry's case, it was all paper, no food, glass or cans, just trash from fast food.
The front seat was dirty, but debris free. :))

You have inferred where I have not implied.  Nothing in my quote says I absolve litterers of responsiblity.  Heck, shoot 'em!  I don't care!  But I am a realist.  Littering will still happen.  How do I know? Well, banks still get robbed and murders still happen, too, but the punishment for those is pretty severe, too.  So let's kill the litterers, or at least sterilize them so they can't reproduce, but also take reasonable steps to ameliorate their impact on the environment.  Why is that such a bad thing?

Obviously not if it costs more than paper made from new material.

So he was a slob, but he did have his standards.  Especially when it came to safety.

By punishing business and the public that trades with them.
Instead, lets just go after the Small Percentage that spoil it for all of us, instead of making it easier for more to litter.

No, it's mostly an eyesore, and a nuisance.
