Are you kidding me right now?  Meanwhile Kerry is telling the Iraq people to be calm!

US sending arms to Iraq's Kurds in battle against militants, official says

"The United States is sending weapons to Kurdish forces in Iraq who have begun to roll back gains made by Sunni militants, a senior U.S. official confirmed to Fox News.

A senior State Department official told The Associated Press that the Kurds are "getting arms from various sources. They are being rearmed.

Providing weapons to Kurdish forces is a reversal of U.S. policy, which previously had only allowed for selling arms directly to the Iraqi government. In recent days, the U.S. military has been helping facilitate weapons deliveries from the Iraqis to the Kurds, providing logistical assistance and transportation to the north. ..

...Kerry urged the people of Iraq to remain calm amid the political and military upheaval and said there should be no use of force by political factions as Iraq struggles form a government. He said the people of Iraq have made clear their desire for change and that the country's new president is acting appropriately despite claims of malfeasance by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki....
"I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed..."I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution..."

Knowing Obama, the arms could be WWI surplus. Hope not. Better late than never. However, the door of opportunity on really bombing ISIS out in the open has passed. ISIS is now hiding among the civilian population, à la Hamas.
"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God. "Certainly," said man. "Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God. And He went away.

Anyone, other than the msm who have acquired a long term lease on rooms in Obama's kiester;
who takes seriously anything said by any Obama flunky about Iraq, deserves to be laughed at.
Iraq, a nomadic wasteland w/oil, is in economic, military and political upheaval.
Neither the Iraqi's nor we, have any clue as to what the current situation is on the ground.
The various factions are largely indistinguishable in terms of gear and uniforms. We can't know
who we are bombing despite the expertise of our pilots, w/o ground spotters to confirm damage
and casualties. The purpose of everything Kerry and the State Dept say is to put a smiley face
on their bull shit. This fandango was ginned up to make Obama look like Sgt, Dudley Doright
riding to the rescue prior to the elections. End of story.

Obama providing military aid to the Kurds is totally out of character for him. That begs the question as to why now. Well, it is not because he wants to. However, I believe his handlers have figured out his inaction has brought about this human and political disaster - and it is all his. Being "all his" is something he despises, but not doing something will make him even weaker than he is perceived now. There is no joy in Mudville.

What the article doesn't tell you is that Kerry's state department STOPPED the Kurds from buying weapons from U.S. merchants two months back. What their not telling you it is that any weapons sent to Baghdad to arm the Kurds, will NOT go to them, but rather will be "appropriated" by the Iraqi Army, which turned tail and ran from these Isis thugs.

I tend to agree with Booman too little too late.

Obammy yanked the troops out of Iraq too soon, before Iraq had a stable, legitimate government of it's own.

And now has handed Iraq to the Iran backed muzzie extremists on a silver platter. Which given his other "actions" in the ME such as his apology tour, and his refusal to aid the people of Iran when they demanded true democracy in Tehran.

I am not so sure that wasn't his intention all along.

UNLESS we are willing to go back in, put down their "insurrection" and then stay there, until such time as Iraq has a stable, functioning, democratic government of it's own.

With a military that is able, and willing to do it's job to protect Iraq.

We can count Iraq as yet another failed M.E. state overrun by muzzie jihadist nuts.

Just like Afghanistan was/is.

Picking up on daidalos' comments, a rudimentary grasp of history is obviously hardly a requirement to hold a job in this Administration.
The last Man to conquer Afghanistan was Alexander (yes that one). Some 2000 years later, at it's zenith of Empire, Great Britain fought
and lost three Afghan Wars in the 19th century and they brought a resolve and ruthlessness to those conflicts we can only fantasize about.  Next up were the Soviets in the 20century, who the Afghans sent packing. Now here we are w/our 'hearts and minds' bull shit to carry the day. Why of course. Iraq is more of the same. Just a different latitude and longitude.

Just a side-note, and we're not a country who does it, but things would be very very different if, in addition to sending arms to the Kurds, we send heads to ISIS-command...

Should have been done years ago, the best way to keep those idiotic Iranian with their slobbering Mullah's in check is to arm the nomadic kurds who would be a constant thorn in their side.

Kit, good one.
The Greeks and Romans of antiquity never, ever forgot who they were and what they stood for.
And they made sure their enemies never forgot either.
In 200 BC, Lucius Accius thundered in the Roman Senate, "Let them hate (Carthage), as long as they fear."

Obama will deftly pretend to be helping the turds and yazoos, because it will be bad PR to play golf while they get slaughtered.

But.....he will just as deftly make sure that whatever he does for MSM sainthood, or Nobel, or Pulitzer, or Oscar.....WILL NOT stop his friends in ISIS.

He, Holder, et al, are masters of the 4-corners D, dipsy doodle, shuck & jive.  And the MSM makes it all work.
