Congress fails to extend federal eviction moratorium - which ends after July 31 - before going on recess


The House of Representatives on Friday failed to extend the CDC's federal eviction moratorium.

House leaders brought an extension up for a unanimous consent vote, which at least one member objected to.

House members left for their August recess, and the moratorium expires after tomorrow, affecting millions.

They've been saying on the news that
one household out of five in the Dayton area
is at least six months behind on rent.

That many evictions would be a catastrophe.
There would be a couple hundred thousand homeless people,
and around a hundred thousand vacant housing units.

I expect that many landlords will make some kind of offer, like
"Just start paying the current rent,
and we'll figure out later something about the arrears."

That's the thing, property owners have been screwed, they've been offered no recourse from their debt, they still have to make their debt payments for the land they hold.
It's as if libs think people who own a duplex, rent out the other side are somehow rich?

I didn't hear about any cessation law being passed for the poor slob that actually pays for the apartment everyone rents from him, he still has to make his payments.

Ohio actually did do mortgage relief for real estate owners,
both landlords and owner occupied.
It was a year ago, so I don't remember the details.

I had my fill of this bullshit, Virginia says you can't evict for non payment. I sold 1 rental house and I threatened to move into the other with my dogs of course, at which point the dead beats agree to move IF I would pay  500 for moving expenses....they beat me for five months rent about 5 grand, plus the 5oo to move 'em. All I can do is claim the loss on taxes next year.

I've read that like Gates buying up farmland, the commies are buying up distressed properties.
