I won't give any analogy, because I don't want to sway an answer either way.

In a worst case scenario, which power base would you prefer to live under, a socialist one, or one where corporations run the country?

I had much rather have corporations running the country than have a socialist government.

I agree, at least under corporatism, we'd still be a Capitalist economy where people would still have freedoms.
Under socialism?

I ask only because with our current administration, the lines became blurred, GE for example.
GE=Government Electric.

There is only one US manufacturer of wind turbines in the top ten worldwide. Guess who's at #6.

A corporation is just a way to organize a business. Who owns the corporations and who will be running them? .Don't forget, under socialism, theoretically "the People" own and run the businesses

Seeing how Williams Sonoma can't throw me in a prison camp for refusing to pay $75 for an apron, I'll go with corporatocracy.

I don't know. Constitutionally there can be no imprisonment for debt. But that isn't keeping dead beat dads out of the joint. And when we get into crony capitalism, corruption makes any thing possible. You just may end up doing time on the road gang over that apron.

Do you really believe that? I would chose Corporation Rule because of the opportunities offered for anyone who wanted more.

Socialism rapes the masses and lavishes the leaders.

Silly boy...  The dead beat dads aren't imprisoned for debt.  They are thrown in jail for contempt of court.

This is a good question.

I have some strong opinions.

One of them is that the free market society would be preferable both to socialism and the republican form of government. And of course it would be better than democracy.

Another point I would make is that such a society could not be called corporatist for corporatism is the marriage of the state with big business, but the proposition here is of a stateless society.

So as others have said, this would increase competition, minimize massive corporate structures and generally would have the effect of necessitating profit seeking through meeting consumer needs rather than political needs.

How private security, defense and law would work is a very interesting question.

Robert Murphy has done a good job of answering the questions from the point of view of an economist in his "Chaos Theory." You can find a pdf of it for free if you google the title...

Definitely a corporation based free enterprise/free market trade system.

Socialism is just a way for a Corrupt Govt to remain in power without producing anything except regulatory control.

Exactly Billy, socialism is a leach on production.
A business on the other maximizes profit, quite the opposite.

Under a pure "corporations run" country, there wouldn't be any unions.
