Exactly, I got into a vary heated argument about this with a liberal. He insisted that we were not only against the poor, but racist to boot, because it would give them an excuse to not allow legal citizens of Mexican decent to vote.  This is what I said to make his head explode.

Carrying an ID or not is a choice you make many times in a day. If someone commits a crime that looks,even a little like me, and police see me out and about, if I have no ID with me, to prove I am not who they are looking for, they are going to hold me on suspicion, until they find out I am not that person.  A problem easily solved by carrying my ID.  Choosing to NOT carry an ID is really an at-your-own-risk thing to do, and frankly, for a population so attached to their cell phones that they can't go to bed without them, asking someone to carry an I'D is not a major request.

I also pointed out to them that in the states that already have voter ID laws, the numbers of elderly and registered minority voters, was not effected.  They offer free legal ID's in those states through the DHS.  This system works, the response is merely emotional, because they may not win in states that hammer down on illegals voting, and other voter fraud.

You reminded me of a real life situation that happened to me, I got pulled over for speeding or something stupid, didn't have an ID.
The officer asked me who I was, I told him, and he said if you have no warrants, I'll let you go.
He came back after backup arrived and took me into custody, took me to jail, he came back with a 6' long IBM printout of warrants for a guy fitting my description from hair color right down to the same first and last name.
I was in total shock, since I never broke the law, let alone abuse women.

Luckily I memorized my DL# and told him to verify it, he did and they laughed and took the cuffs off.
Turns out, the scum ball with the same name was a distant cousin I'd never even heard of, and I almost spent the weekend in lockup.
He is currently doing time for robbery, I know, because I heard my name on the news and couldn't believe I was being hunted.

I wonder how many people I went to school with, thought I took the wrong path in life...

That taught me a lesson, I'll never forget.

Good for My home state of Pa....My older brother (who is a few ticks to the right of me) says no way will the traditional Democrats in that State vote for Obamao. Now that they have eliminated the illegals with this voter ID law... he hasn't much of a chance.
