QuoteFormer President Jimmy Carter says former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was notable for her ineffectiveness in improving relations in the Middle East during her tenure in the Obama administration.

In an interview with Time magazine, Carter also gave his views on President Barack Obama's handling of relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and talked about his regular discussions with Secretary of State John Kerry.

Reflecting on progress made by the United States toward peace in the Middle East, Carter's criticism of Clinton was balanced by praise for Kerry's performance.

"I think [Kerry's efforts] are notable, and I have a great admiration for him. I stay in touch with him fairly often by email. I send him messages and tell him what my thoughts might be, and he has responded very graciously."

Carter said Kerry has been left to operate largely on his own, putting him in a difficult position.

"I know from experience that the best way to have the United States be a mediator is for the president himself to be deeply involved," he said.

"In this occasion, when Secretary Clinton was Secretary of State, she took very little action to bring about peace. It was only John Kerry's coming into office that re-initiated all these very important crucial issues."

Carter said he has urged Kerry not to deviate from longstanding international law or reverse any of the basic United Nations agreements shared by the United States, its allies, Israel, and the Arab countries.

Is Carter grooming Kerry to run against Hillary? I really believe Hillary will not run unopposed. If Kerry doesn't run this time he will be to old, Just as Hillary. It is his last shot. Will he just roll over and let the Clintons just take it or will he take them on? All he needs is one accomplishment as secretary of state and he will beat Hillary's record of nothing! Go for it JOHN!!

When a failed president knocks on your door basically telling you that you suck, well it's save to say that "you suck"...lol
People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A foolish man complains about his torn pockets.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

Carter as usual is completely wrong. Hillary took no action....

Before reading this quote, I couldn't think of a single scenario I could possibly care what Jimmy Carter thinks.

After reading this quote, I still can't...

Jimmy Carter is an old fool.  But sometimes old fools are correct.

True.  It's not wrong just because he said it.  He just has no clue what he's talking about.

The most impressive thing that he has accomplished in his life is that as horrible he was as President, he was actually worse as an ex-President.  Not an easy feat to accomplish.  My brother went to the Naval Academy.  I asked him about Jimmy Carter, he said he just never hears anyone talk about him.  What a pathetic loser he is.  A stalwart friend to totalitarians and terrorists, an enemy of liberty.

Ahhh, the good ol days, when the Sha of Iran had to run for his life because Carter's intervention in foreign affairs, gas was rationed because Carter was to damned stupid to allow domestic production to do what free mkt Capitalists do best.

Yeah, that Carter, the epitome of wisdom, yet here he is pointing out failure worse than his.

You are correct in your sarcasm.  How can a man who is responsible for the predicament we find ourselves in the Middle East possibly be taken seriously when he gives advice on foreign policy?  It is he who told the Shah that he was "Behind him 1000%," while all the time planning the Shah's overthrow. He told the Shah to temporarily leave Iran and as soon as the Shah left, Carter made arrangements for Komeini to return from exile in Paris.  It is to the lasting shame of the US that Carter refused the Shah entry into the US to receive cancer treatment at Sloan-Kettering, but Kissinger intervened.  The Shah was allowed the treatment, but had to leave the US immediately thereafter.  Only Sadat had the courage to assist the Shah in his final years.  Yes, the Shah was an SOB, but he was our SOB.  The Iranian people today live under a much worse dictator than the Shah ever was, Sharia Law.  The women of Iran are suppressed and mistreated as they never were under the Shah.  Morality police roam the country to make sure the women are wearing their shrouds, the symbol of death.  And, the Iranian government is in possession of the means and materiel to make nuclear weapons and will use them as soon as they are completed, despite John Kerry's idiotic wishful thinking.

Need I go into the barbaric hostage taking of American diplomats, in direct contradiction of all international law and decency?

Thank you Jimmy Carter, for your destruction of my country.
