Sen. DeMint mulls White House bid

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) says he is considering running for president after frustrated conservative activists have pleaded with him to run.

DeMint told The Hill that he has discussed a White House bid with his wife and will pray on the question out of respect for his supporters across the country.

The Tea Party favorite, who had indicated he was not going to run in 2012, would significantly shake up the race if he were to jump in.

Personally, I like DeMint.  IMO, he is a solid conservative.

I really don't know anything about him.
Not saying I know all these guys, but I'm not certain he has the name recognition needed to make a strong showing.
I could be wrong, its just I haven't seen anything hes done that jumps out at me.

Do you have more on him?
I could make him the next candidate to profile, that is, if he jumps in.

Solar, I believe wholeheartedly that he is rock-ribbed conservative and he has demonstrated in the past that he doesn't mind bucking the system.  I like him just for that reason alone.

I'll be glad to try to dig up stuff on him.  I was hoping someone else might have additional info and might want to discuss.   (I'm here to learn.)

Hey lilac, I'm a DeMint fan too.  He is a solid conservative (what I know about him).

Doing a quick search using the term RINO, its encouraging that the few times the term did come up, was where he was kicking RINO ass.
If he jumps in, we'll definitely have to do an in depth study of him.

I love the way the field is shaping up. 8)

I don't know if JD will jump in to the foray or not.  Hopefully if he does, he will gain name recognition and get his message out.   I am keeping my eye on him and Rick Perry.  Not too sure about Perry, but every time a Repub is mentioned, I compare him/her to Obama and they all come up smelling like roses to me.

DeMint is of interest to me.  I have had the privilege of meeting him a couple of times.  He and I differ on foreign policy; however, on most other policies, as far as I know, we agree.  He gave support to Rand Paul in the Kentucky election.  He represents the soul of traditional South Carolina; whereas, his counterpart, Lindsay Graham, represents the "New South" stalked by the GOP elites.
