I guessing the first reply had it correct, they posted (or would that be tweeted) many different dates and deleted all the wrong ones.

I think the thing that confused me about the tweet is that it was posted in February...  and I know that there is only a 30 minute window to edit a tweet and a 5-edit cap on top of that.  So how could you come back on September 8 and edit a post made in February? 

Bots?  I guess bots could bypass the edit restrictions?

It's possible, but that's a lot of tweets to put forward... like what if she lived to be 100?  I think also someone would have seen it and be able to recover the deleted tweets.

Nah, bots are restricted by the same rules.  If it's a hoax, I'd love to know how they did it...

This makes sense... a bunch of spam accounts, each one with the dates.  Speaks to Twitter's bot/fake account problem.
