I know where you're coming from, and in principle, agree for the most part.

However, I see Joe as akin to a leader of a Satanic society, where he knew sacrificing puppies was wrong but still grew the society to include preteen children.

Im curious, would you also feel sympathy for a serial rapist or child molester whose compulsions urge him to commit such terrible crimes?  How about a serial killer who can only find sexual gratification thru torture and murder?

How about a organized crime Lord who orders the deaths of other with a nod of his head or a look?  How about the hitman who is being used by the big boss to eliminate a rival?  Or the Mexican cartels who chainsaw and torture people to death?

I could go on and on but you get the point, I have no sympathy for criminals and no sympathy for a crime Lord

A part of you wants to help while another part feels a sense of retribution, then you have guilt coursing through for even considering a glint of happiness, but it is after all, nature taking it's course, and that thought gives you solace, but you remember how you've grown up with this alarm clock as a part of your life and the family that is the farm.

While you stand watching this creature being eaten alive slowly, your humanity kicks in and you struggle in just how you can save it. But then...

A hand grasps your shoulder, and your fathers voice say's "Finally"! I always hated that piece of shit, the worthless fuck was sterile, all he did was squawk and make itself a nuisance and never once giving anything in return!

Your mother didn't have the heart to put him down, felt sorry for him because he was worthless, so she let him live under the pretense of having worth.
